Rosalinda of San Gabriel Valley on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Rosalinda. Check out our conversation below.

Rosalinda, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
Our business is a business of women helping women. I love to believe that I am helping other small women business owners make their business more successful and profitable by being a part of our community.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Rosalinda I’ve been a small business owner for over 15 years. We started Loteria Nights almost 9 years ago to help other women business owners like ourselves grow their businesses in a safe, fun and welcoming environment. Although I run it by myself now it still takes a village to make our events run smoothly with the help of our amazing vendors and the best hosts in the industry. We are a pop up event with a Loteria twist which has helped me brand myself as La Dama but with a modern twist.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who taught you the most about work?
My parents are my biggest inspiration when it comes to hard work and dedication. As a proud daughter of immigrants who came to America from Mexico to give their children a better life I’m proud to say they taught me all about being an entrepreneur. My mom was always a stay at home mom but she taught us all about direct sales selling Avon and princess house and any other business she could do to help out with the household finances. My dad always had a side hustle going beside his 9-5 job. They were the best example of if you want it you got to go out and work for it.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
That no one is coming to save you. You have to save yourself. Everything is temporary. You have to keep pushing forward.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a belief you used to hold tightly but now think was naive or wrong?
That not everyone has the same business ethics that I do. Not everyone treats their business like I do..

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
My vendors and host know that Loteria Nights was always a labor of love. We started it to help other women in business with pop up cost that were super expensive and had no foot traffic. Our vendor fees are super low and we give back more than 50% of the pot back to our vendors. It was never a get rich fast pop up and I’m proud of that regardless of who realizes it.
