Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Kormiyaki Lamarr of Hollywood

We recently had the chance to connect with Kormiyaki Lamarr and have shared our conversation below.

Kormiyaki , really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: Are you walking a path—or wandering?
I’d say I’m definitely walking—more like running—my path. There’s so much I want to achieve this year, especially after rebranding our production company. A big focus is on strengthening our branding, bringing in more people, and building stronger structures within the company. On top of that, we’re expanding into India, where we already have a few team members, so we’re also putting energy into developing that side of the business.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
We’re Kormiyaki Lamarr and Arnav Kasbeker, co-founders of Yellow Yolk, a Los Angeles–based production company. Our journey started when we came to the U.S. to study at the New York Film Academy. What began as two international students exploring storytelling quickly evolved into a vision much bigger than just working as individual freelancers. We wanted to build something of our own — a creative house that could bring ideas to life with scale, quality, and impact.

That’s how Yellow Yolk was born. Over the past few years, we’ve been fortunate to work on some incredible projects across fashion, music, and entertainment, collaborating with globally recognized names like Post Malone, Lionel Messi, Chris Brown, Diljit Dosanjh, Jackson Wang, Karan Johar, KL Rahul, Ram Charan, Tyla Yaweh, and even visionary leaders like Sam Altman, Nikesh Arora, and Vinod Khosla. Our work has been featured with leading platforms and publications including Alo, Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue, and InStyle.

What makes Yellow Yolk special is our dual identity — rooted in Los Angeles but expanding into India, where we’re currently building our team in Bombay. This gives us the ability to bridge East and West, and to provide brands not just with creative content but also with a global outlook. At our core, we’re driven by a simple belief: powerful visuals can cross borders and cultures, and we want Yellow Yolk to be the vehicle that makes those stories resonate worldwide.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who taught you the most about work?
Honestly, our biggest teachers have been the people we’ve worked with along the way. From starting out on small student projects to eventually being part of large-scale Hollywood productions, the last eight years have exposed us to such a wide spectrum of collaborators — artists, technicians, entrepreneurs, and creatives from different walks of life and corners of the world.

Each project has taught us something new: how to adapt, how to communicate better, and how to respect different perspectives while still pushing for a unified vision. That collective experience has shaped not just how we approach work, but also how we think about growth — both personally and as a company. It’s never been about one mentor or one lesson; it’s been about the accumulation of insights and challenges from every person we’ve had the chance to work alongside.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would tell my younger self that life is full of surprises — so trust the process and keep working hard. Consistency and discipline will take you much further than short bursts of motivation, which always fades. Always have a plan, because without direction hard work can easily lead you astray.

At the same time, don’t be too hard on yourself. Remember to enjoy the journey, live in the moment, and be grateful for the things you do have. Have fun along the way, be kind to people, and never forget to smile through it all.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
“Yes, the public version of us is very much who we are in real life. We believe strongly in authenticity. In fact, over the last three years, our main source of clients has been word of mouth rather than marketing — people connect with us and trust us for being genuine. We’ve always kept it real, embraced who we are and where we come from, and shared our journey openly, with all its ups and downs. We’re not afraid of showing both our wins and our losses, because they’re equally part of the journey. For us, it’s about growth — not just for ourselves, but for the people we work with and the community around us. At Yellow Yolk, we believe that staying true to yourself is the key to bringing out the best version of who you are, both personally and professionally.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What will you regret not doing?
For both of us, once we’ve built Yellow Yolk into a full-scale production company, our biggest regret would be not giving back to the community. We’ve always felt strongly about creating opportunities for others — especially for creatives who may not have had the chance to pursue their dreams or do what they love. Giving back and helping others grow is something we’re very big on, and it’s just as important to us as our own success.
