Brian & Lindsay Schlick of Santa Clarita on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We recently had the chance to connect with Brian & Lindsay Schlick and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Brian & Lindsay , thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
The biggest thing that is misunderstood about our business is that we are “just” photographers. While that is an important part of the services we offer, we provide so much more to our clients. From video content creation to marketing strategy, consulting, and truly thriving when we can operate as the Fractional Marketing Team for our clients.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
SchlickArt is Santa Clarita’s luxury visual marketing company, specializing in strategic content that helps businesses and personal brands grow. Through expert marketing strategy, high-quality photography, and engaging video production, we create content that connects with audiences and drives real results.

Founded in 2012 by Brian and Lindsay Schlick, SchlickArt was established with the belief that marketing should be authentic, engaging, and deeply rooted in storytelling. Equally important is ensuring that every effort aligns with well-defined business objectives. This philosophy drives a strategy-first approach, helping professionals and businesses articulate their expertise, values, and distinctive brand identity through compelling visuals that actually move the needle forward.

At SchlickArt, we don’t just create content—we craft marketing tools designed to elevate your brand, enhance your visibility, and grow your business with confidence.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
Our clients are what have driven us forward, without a doubt. When we first started our business, we knew the work we were doing was good, but until our clients starting believing in us it was hard to fully believe that what we were doing was the right thing and the right direction.

That has led us to 13 years of business with a number of evolutions over time. From moving to bigger locations, to adding new services, and serving new niches, our clients have always been our support system and we are thankful they have believed in us for all these years.

Do you remember a time someone truly listened to you?
We have many client stories that illustrates that when they truly heard us they found growth in their business.

For example, we worked with a Therapist client that was not finding growth in her business. She had client goals, financial goals, even a goal to own her own home. While she had a business coach guiding her, she felt that she was not achieving what she had set out to do. When she told us about this we invited her to come to us for a Strategy Session to really help setup her business for success. After a year’s worth of quarterly meetings we were able to guide her into the growth numbers she was hoping to achieve… even owning her own home!

We have actually written a case study about it which you can find here – https://www.canva.com/design/DAGQx3qH9MU/j7YQNlaWwdKjJCCeGXfmDA/view?utm_content=DAGQx3qH9MU&utm_campaign=designshare&utm_medium=link2&utm_source=uniquelinks&utlId=h08b410e341

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? How do you differentiate between fads and real foundational shifts?
Fads in marketing don’t work. Or they might work as a short term, but will eventually fade and you’ll be left chasing the next fad, constantly in search of the next big thing.

However, when you set a strong foundation of marketing for your business and do the work to build it out, that is where the real shifts start to happen. Why? Because when a business has a strong foundation it allows you to play, experiment, have trial and error without knocking you off your foundation.

Have a well built foundational strategy is the key to long term success.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
We think our clients would miss our support the most. We tend to be an open book when it comes to helping our clients succeed and that is really one of the things that drives us.

Supporting our clients beyond just a photo or video is really the difference maker for us and when we can see our clients succeed there is just nothing better.
