Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Do.
Hi Stephanie, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
The Vietnam War was escalating, and thousands fled Vietnam to foreign countries in hopes for better life. Our father, David Do survived the dangerous voyage to America with scarce access to food and water. He arrived in America with nothing but the clothes on his back. He worked hard selling t-shirts to make a living, and then pursued learning English. After two attempts, he passed the International Dental Examination to become a licensed dentist in America. He and our mom opened their private dental office in 1985. With just the two of them, the dental office started to thrive as more patients referred their friends and family. It became a family oriented practice, and we would visit often after school or on the weekends.
We both decided to follow our father’s footsteps and pursued a career in dentistry. We attended the accelerated 3+3 year program at the University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry. Dr. Stephanie then went to NYU Langone Advanced General Residency for further training. We like to stay up to date on current dental technologies by attending numerous CE courses. Dr. Stephanie and Dr. Christine have built on the solid foundation our father started and remodeled our dental practices. We like to apply evidence-based studies to our clinical patient care.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
In 1985, our father built our Monterey Park office with a commitment to provide quality dental care and to treat our patients like family. We were fortunate to grow a loyal patient base and see our patients grow throughout the years. In 2014, we took a leap of faith and opened our second location in Pasadena. We constructed a brand new office from the ground up with the same intention. We began with zero patients, and the early days dragged on painfully slow. We were lucky just to see one or two patients a day. We had determination to help serve our Pasadena community. We believed in the value of our dental health and patients slowly started referring their friends and family. We started to slowly see our patient schedule fill up.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are two sisters who are best friends and now dental practice owners. We treat our patients like family. We take pride in the relationships we have built. We continue to stay updated with the latest dental technologies and are constantly learning and evolving to help serve our dental family. We offer all types of dental treatment, from cleanings to root canals to implants to Invisalign. We are very proud of our minimally-invasive implant placement procedure. Our greatest joy comes from watching our patients grow more confident in their healthy smiles.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
We understand that preventing dental disease is just as important as treating it. We aim to prevent issues like cavities and gum disease. Early intervention helps reduce the need for extensive dental work, saving time and cost for patients.
