Today we’d like to introduce you to Matthew Rozo.
Hi Matthew, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
As a child who suffered abuse and witnessed my mother being abused, I grew up with an anger and depression I couldn’t understand. Later in life, I tried to cope through drinking and drugs, which eventually led to an overdose and a suicide attempt.
As I got older, I began to understand why I was trying to numb the pain and instead started working to get to the root of it. Even though I quit drugs in my 20s after overdosing, I continued to drink socially. It didn’t seem like a problem at first, but as I aged, it began to affect my health.
Then, I entered a toxic relationship that brought even more problems—deep insecurities, heavier drinking, and eventually, codependency. My partner cheated on me repeatedly, and I became emotionally and physically exhausted. When she finally left, I didn’t know how to deal with it. I was already in a dark place, and around the same time, a close family member passed away. That was rock bottom.
I didn’t know what else to do, so I began pouring my pain into music. That’s when I started this project called *Fevr*. The name came from the anxiety and the shakes I experienced during that time. I was desperately trying to find the light, but it wasn’t easy. It took time, healing, and the support of family and true friends.
Through my music, I began connecting with fans and incredible people who had been through similar experiences. That changed everything. I found the support and love I never knew existed. What started as just a band grew into something much more—a family, a community. I also met our latest members (Vick Vapors -Keys/vox) and (In Shadows – Bass/guitar) and am so grateful! They are truly my best friends and I’m so grateful for their hard work. These are special people to me and my number one supporters!
I’ve found my purpose in helping and guiding others who are hurting or navigating similar struggles. It brings me immense joy to know that I didn’t suffer for nothing. Out of that pain, I found purpose.
Today, I run a record label called **Darkwave Records**, where we’re building a true family. We work with amazing artists to help make their dreams come true.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s been a healing journey—definitely not an easy one—but I’m so grateful for it. I’ve faced struggles with addiction and self-hate, but I’m learning to love myself and developing both self-awareness and emotional awareness.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a musician and producer of darkwave music. I play guitar, bass, piano, and sing. One of our biggest accomplishments is our song “I Can’t Do It No More,” which has now reached over 1.6 million streams on YouTube. We’re incredibly grateful to have such amazing fans supporting us.
What truly sets us apart is the authenticity each of us brings to the project. We’re a trio—each of us plays multiple instruments—and I’m so grateful to have Vick Vapors and In Shadows by my side. These guys have such big hearts, and our shared care for others really makes a difference.
At the end of the day, we’re like three kids just having fun. It doesn’t feel like work—it’s our passion, our purpose. I’m so proud to be creating with them.
How do you define success?
I believe success is defined by purpose. Without purpose, I feel you have nothing. Whether your purpose is to help others or simply become the best version of yourself, that is the true meaning of success. It’s not about money or possessions—it’s about discovering your passion and the deeper meaning of life.
