Meet Neydin Villeda of Woodland Hills

Today we’d like to introduce you to Neydin Villeda.

Hi Neydin, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi! I’m Neydin Villeda, I’m 25 and I’ve been a manicurist for about five to six years. After high school, I was stuck on what to do next. School has never been my forte. I always struggled with the “routine” of it all. So I have a very hard time deciding what my next challenge would be. During high school, I would do makeup for special events to make a little bit of extra cash as a teen. So originally, that was my end goal, to be a makeup artist. But during that time, makeup courses weren’t as available as they were now, so I decided to take a course on manicuring.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I still remember the first day of orientation for nail school, and I’m not going to lie, it was tough! I was out of my element, confused and frustrated. The moment I finished my orientation, I sat in my car and bawled my eyes out. I called my mom and told her how I was feeling. She’s a very strong person so of course, she pushed me to power through. If it wasn’t for her, I wouldn’t have gotten as far as I have now with nails. I remember when I first started nails, I’d always tell my friends that I would only ever do my own nails because I was extremely afraid of clients. Never in a million years would I think that a few year down the line, I would be a small business owner for my dream job. Eventually, I absolutely fell in love with Manicuring. It’s more than a job for me. I have met my favorite people through this job. It’s a way for me to be creative & still make a living.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a manicurist. I specialize in gel nails and nail art. I’m most proud of my nail art because I’m always hyper focused on the details. I love to hand draw & hand sculpt art, I believe that’s what sets me apart from others.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is to just go for it. You’ll never know unless you just do for it. You might be scared or unsure but, it’s better to try than to never find out what could’ve been!!
