Today we’d like to introduce you to George Christopher.
Hi George, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Feather Hearts began as a love letter to rebellion. Launched in Los Angeles in 2011, by Abigail Hedine and George Christopher. The brand started with cut and sew graphic tops, each one a little loud, a little raw, and a lot unapologetic. What started as a side project quickly caught fire, landing in major retailers. From there, Feather Hearts became more than just a label, it became a movement.
Known for cheeky slogans and femme forward graphics, the brand carved out space in the early 2010s for girls who didn’t want to play it safe. Graphic tees like “The bad news babes” and “In Memory When I cared” turned into cult favorites, earning nods from publications, celebrities and influencers.
Made in Los Angeles using recycled and dead stock fabrics where ever possible, each piece leaned into a tactile, lived-in aesthetic, soft washed cotton, raw hems, and just the right amount of edge. The brand’s online shop opened the door to an international audience, shipping to the UK, Germany, France, and Australia, spreading the gospel of good graphics and bad behavior around the world.
Feather Hearts was never just about clothes. It was about the attitude. The message. The community it built. A quiet riot in cotton form.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Running an independent brand has never been easy and in the early days, it was even tougher. Back then, small-batch production wasn’t widely supported, especially in Los Angeles. Finding local dye houses, cutters, sewers, and printers was less about online directories and more about word of mouth way before Instagram became a discovery tool
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Feather Hearts is known for its cheeky slogans and vintage-inspired design.
The brand stands apart through its authenticity, attitude, and commitment to keeping production personal.
While currently focused on women’s styles, Feather Hearts will debut unisex designs and exclusive artist collaborations in Holiday 2025
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
We often took creative and financial risks like self funding collections, experimenting with new graphics without guaranteed sell-through, and absorbing the learning curve of e-commerce and wholesale simultaneously.
Feather Hearts has stayed resilient by staying independent, nimble, and rooted in its original vision. Life is about risk taking, if you never try there will always be a what if.
