Life & Work with Carmen Corinna of Venice

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carmen Corinna.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Hi LA!
I can proudly say I am soooo happy to finally live in LA!
It was a long and hard journey taking me from Germany over Spain and over Switzerland but I would not want to miss a second of it as it was all worth it to become the artist I want to be and finally land in my first forever home on a proper artist Visa. And now I am only getting started!
I’m AM!NA Jaguar, aka. CC Brown or with my real name: Carmen Corinna Braun.
I am a singer, songwriter, DJ, Aerial singer, Dancer, Record Label founder, CEO, music – and event producer.
What best characterizes me are the subtitles I choose every since I started my full time career as an artist:
From ‘Vocals, Dance & Joy of Life’, to ‘Pure Inciting Energy’ to ‘Feel the Vibrance’ to ‘Passion is Power’.
Me moving to LA means coming home, finding freedom and fulfillment and ultimately my artist family.
I have already dedicated 2 tracks to LA.
When I started my journey as the Afro + Melodic House Vocal DJ AM!NA Jaguar with my first release ‘LA’ in November 2023 and just now in May 2025 with the first release ‘LLA’ of my own record label JAGUARs RECORDs.
And now to top it off and really celebrate my arrival my favorite LA record and event label AmongFriends.LA just signed my new hooky track ‘Light it Up’ and on top of it invited me to perform for them and with them opening up for a major French act at their open air event on Independence Day!
Can I make a better landing?

But let’s start from the beginning.
My journey in music started early as I instinctively wrote melodies and choreographed dances before fully understanding their significance. With over 11 years of formal training in keyboards, singing, and music theory, I realized my passion for connecting with audiences, embracing my voice as my primary instrument.
I began to get noticed in 2004 as a singer and songwriter also known as CC Brown, while honing my DJing skills in the past 7 years. This foundation has prepared me to create uplifting and engaging musical experiences under my current project, AM!NA JAGUAR.

Throughout my career, I have achieved several milestones:
+ Chart-Topping Hits: My first single, “Paradox,” reached No. 6 on the NRW Charts in Germany in 2004, and my album “Euphoria” achieved No. 1 in the R&B and Album Charts in Switzerland in 2020.
+ Collaborations and Performances: I’ve shared the stage with renowned artists such as Chali2na from Jurassic Five and the funk band War. My diverse background has allowed me to explore genres from rap and funk to jazz and flamenco, ultimately leading to my current focus on Melodic and Afro House.
+Recognition in Ibiza: Relocating to Ibiza in 2014, I became a full-time performer at prestigious venues like Pacha and Hï Ibiza (voted the worlds no. 1 Club by DJmag) as well as Destino Pacha, Chinois, Nikki Beach, Blue Marlin, Las Dalias, and Cova Santa. My performances are enhanced by my unique multilingual live vocals and captivating stage presence.

+ Artistic Development
Since launching AM!NA JAGUAR in November 2023, I have quickly gained recognition on DJ platforms like Beatport, where my tracks continuously chart. My debut single “LA” exemplifies my distinctive sound, blending catchy top-lines with deep, soulful vocals. Additionally, my Afro House track “Mirada” has garnered significant attention, being remixed and released by a young thriving Afro House label in Los Angeles charting in the top 100 on Beatport with over 14,000 streams on Spotify in just one month.

+ Cultural Influence and Vision
My diverse background—having lived in Germany, Spain, and Switzerland—has enriched my artistry. I have integrated elements from German ‘Schlager’ and Apres Ski music into my songwriting, creating catchy choruses and memorable phrases. My decade-long experience in Spain deepened my appreciation for flamenco, influencing my current productions. Originally I come from the culture of Hip Hop and Breakdance, so James Brown is one of my biggest idols. Therefore I also have gained a profound understanding for rhythm, rhyme, rap, spoken word and beat.

I just moved to Los Angeles after I received my artist visa to expand my career in the U.S., where I am collaborating with producers from Los Angeles and South Africa as well as organising Afro House Events and female start up mixers. I finally joined my Gospel Choir in Los Angeles in person and keep broadening my singing and songwriting skill set with the consistent and diverse vocal training.
My fluency in German, English, Spanish, and French enables me to connect with a broad audience and contribute to the cultural tapestry of music.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
1. When I considered myself already living in LA back in 2012 and I was sent back because I did not have a work VISA I was devastated. My dreams broke into pieces. But I knew what I had to do.
I had to build my career and become serious about my career first, so I could apply for the Artist Visa.
So I started singing for Clubs and Hotels in Ibiza, soon with DJs and soon I started DJing myself and also performed in Switzerland where I founded my own Music & Event production company.
When my best friend in LA died in 2021 I could not believe that I was still in Europe and had missed her all these 9 years.
So I finally applied for the visitor and finally the artist visa.

2. I also found it hard to believe that I would be alone so much time in my music career.
My goal was always to be with people, I loved being in the crowd or in front of the crowd, not in front of a computer.
I have 2 university titles, I am a German Sports Scientist and Spanish teacher. As a Sports & Spanish teacher I was never alone and I loved it!
But the deeper I got into music the more I realized I had to spent most of my time alone and in front of the computer.
Now that I am used to working by myself, not having anyone or any schedule to follow other than what I would motivate myself to make me do, opportunities start opening up and I start collaborating more and more with truly exciting people and artists.
I guess we need to sit with our loneliness until it feels comfortable and only then we can attract the right people into our realm.

3. Funny enough for as much as I was looking and reaching out for my leaders and idols I would always end up working with artists who are less driven than me. Finally a A-Game mixing & mastering engineer in Ibiza said to me: You are trying not to pay so much to the professionals but then you end up paying much more to fix the work done by amateurs. At the same time I realized that I prefer drive over talent. Obviously it needs both. But it’s hard and discouraging to drag dead bodies along who are talented but not driven enough to focus on their own career and who do not realize that they also hold me back when I work with them. But I learnt my lesson. Only passionate professionals for me from now on!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a multifaceted artist as a singer, songwriter, DJ, Aerial Singer, meaning I am an Aerialist and while I do acrobatics in the air on silks, I sing at the same time. I come from 8 years of Gymnastics and 12 years of Breakdancing.
I speak, write and sing in German, English, Spanish and French.
What makes my DJing unique right now as AM!NA Jaguar is that I blend smooth live vocals seamlessly with my DJ set.
While I am still building my career as an artist I DJ and perform as a service provider on private and corporate events and this basically pays my bills while I stay close to my artistry and evolve.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
It is all about the limitless goal setting.
I am very clear on my goals and I define them without thinking of any limitations like place, time, ‘ranking’, ‘price’.
I review and refine them daily!

It is all about the people.
Once I defined my goals I can see for myself who is closest to it and who I have closest in my circles to reach this goal.
And I don’t I start reaching out to them. There is nothing to loose.
They might not answer in the beginning but if they see you consistently rising and working on your goals they will eventually listen to you.

It is all about the high vibes too.
If someone gives you bad vibes, no matter how skilled they are and what they can teach you, it drags you down and you cannot rise as fast because you loose time worrying to understand other peoples problems.
