Hi Victor, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
How I Built Ambient Pro
I started my DJ business in 1998, thanks to a gift from my late godfather — a full DJ setup with turntables, a mixer, and speakers. That gear was everything to me. I started small, performing at backyard parties and local nightclubs. Over time, I started getting gigs in bigger venues, and eventually, I was touring across most of the U.S.
My passion for music naturally led me to learn more about audio and lighting. By 2004, I saw an opportunity to expand beyond DJing. That’s when I launched Ambient Pro — a company that provided not just sound, but full event production services like lighting, draping, microphones, stages, pyro, LED walls, and more. It took off. Before I knew it, we were working with big names like Herbalife, NASCAR, F1, Jack Daniels, Lollapalooza, and major country music festivals.
But the journey hasn’t been easy. In the beginning, doubt constantly crept in, making me question if I had what it took. Motivational books and learning to stay consistent helped me push through. Some of the setbacks were brutal — clients not paying, getting robbed at gunpoint (and even hit on the head with the gun). In 2008, the stock market crash almost wiped us out. I had to downsize and offer services at lower rates just to survive.
Through it all, what kept us going was how we treated people. Clients trusted us because we treated them like family. We paid attention to every detail, and people noticed. That trust is what built long-term relationships and kept business steady even when things got rough.
Then came the pandemic in 2020. That was a gut punch. We tried to keep the team together for as long as we could, but eventually, I had to let people go. We lost clients, employees, even some close friends and family members. It felt like starting over from scratch.
Now, in 2025, Ambient Pro feels like it’s reborn. We’ve got a fresh start, new clients, and a new momentum. We even have our own warehouse and office in Cerritos, CA. Some of our old employees are back, and we’re creating unforgettable experiences for our clients again. It’s been a wild ride — but every setback has only made us stronger.
