Today we’d like to introduce you to Retha Felt-Clutter.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My story begins in a very small area of northern Mexico where my parents were living when I was born. My father was an engineer and my mother graduated from Southern Methodist University in Dallas. After living in Dallas and Colorado, they made a decision to retire turning their mid life and move to a health and wellness “camp” called, Rancho La Puerta, located near the small town of Tecate, Mexico. They had a very deep belief in healthy eating and healthy living as a way of life. My father helped build the ranch and my mother was part of the staff there. My parents along with my sister and brother and I traveled back and forth between Mexico and the Los Angeles area for most of my early life. Later, due to the death of my father my mother moved us to the Antelope Valley where I attended middle school, high school and junior college. I stayed very active in community and school activities thru the years and made many long lasting friendships and contacts.
I then moved to San Luis Obispo to continue my education at California polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, CA.
After completing my education, I married my 8th grade graduation partner/high school sweetheart. Unfortunately, after 13 years of marriage, I found myself a single mom with two very young but fabulous boys. So, I entered the world of sales and marketing to support my family.
I was married again 10 years later and now had 4 step sons. Yes 6 teenage boys! During that time, I met a beautiful young girl that was growing up on her own and she joined our family as well. I now had 7 children and a sales/marketing career that was put on hold to give my family the necessary attention. After all these years of raising wonderful children, I find myself single again. So, I went back to what I loved, sales and marketing.
A very good friend introduced me to Dr. Jasbir Sandhu, who has a dermatology practice. He was building a new building and was interested in opening a med spa as well. He wanted a marketing Rep and Sales manager to promote his business in the local community. With my long lasting community contacts and my love of sales and marketing it was a perfect match. It has taken many hours of learning the world of medical sales and med spa products and services but here I am today, in a career I love with amazing doctors and a fabulous staff. I’m learning and growing in my career every day. At age 63 now, my family has also grown as well. I’ve added a son-in-law and a daughter-in-law, a beautiful grand-daughter and another grandchild on the way in May.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
My life or my career? Is anything smooth? Everything is a learning process. I hit road blocks and struggles everyday. But, I never let them slow me down. With 25+ years in sales/marketing, I can honestly say, I never gave up or never gave in.

The services include all dermatology procedures from skin cancer treatments to latest lasers for anti-aging. As the marketing and sales manager, I represent the doctor, the practice and the med spa.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success! Success is not how much money you make or how many promotions you have had. Or the things you own. Success to me is what you have built during your life. The memories you have made for your children the happiness you have brought to the people around you. If you look around and see that your family is happy and thriving and you have wonderful relationships with your children and friends, you are successful. If you have that happiness within yourself, everything else will come.
