Rising Stars: Meet Laura Diosdado of Laguna Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Diosdado.

Hi Laura, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
20 years ago, while going through a painful divorce and becoming a 26 year old single mother of 2 small children, my yoga teacher Jason Wilkerson asked me to consider the path of a yoga teacher. Saying “yes” to this offer changed the entire trajectory of my life. Yoga has been my foundation. The practices I have learned keep me centered. I truly could not imagine my life without yoga. The decision to teach, has provided me with a life I absolutely LOVE! I travel the world leading yoga retreats, I teach at various studios in Orange County, I lead Women’s Circles and events, I work privately with clients in Intuitive Healing Sessions, and am surrounded by such amazing people. I am forever grateful to my teacher for pushing me a little, and grateful that I had the heart to say “YES” to a new path.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There were some bumps along the way, mostly financial. Unfortunately, yoga teachers don’t make a lot of money. I had to learn to be creative, and think outside the box. The programs I have developed over the years – trainings, workshops, retreats, and detox programs- have allowed me to make this my life’s work and be financially abundant doing it.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As a yoga teacher I’d say I am known for leading a powerful , yet heart centered class. I also have had the blessing of collaborating with some truly incredible musicians over the years and with them offering something beautiful to the students.
Music has always been a big part of the offering.

What I’m most proud of is our Yoga Teacher Training Program. It’s DEEP. I feel the trainees truly learn how to confidently instruct a yoga class, but more importantly they learn how the practice of yoga can change their lives. We dive deep into philosophy, mantra, and energy. I absolutely love leading Teacher Training.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I have been SO blessed to have some really amazing teachers. I have trained under Jason Wilkerson of Yoga Tribe, as well as Govind Das of Bhakti Yoga Shala.

I have also had the amazing opportunity to work with some truly INCREDIBLE musicians- Ana & Tim Cannon, and Sukha the band to name a few.

My husband Ralph Diosdado has been my rock over the last few years. He encourages me, he supports me, he also inspires me to always follow my heart. I am seriously blessed to have this man in my life.

But most of all- I’m BEYOND grateful for our Dharma Yoga House community! The students & friends made over the years. These people are my best friends. They have changed my life. Their unwavering support means so much to me.
