Today we’d like to introduce you to Alden Lo Bosco.
Alden, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’m Alden! I am originally from the East Coast and have been living in Los Angeles for the past ten years. When the TV industry slowed down and I was dealing with long-term effects from COVID, things got pretty tough. Life felt heavy and uninspired. I turned to art as a way to lift my spirits and pass the time, but it ended up being so much more than that. Drawing whimsical locations around Los Angeles helped me reconnect with my creative passions and see the city through a new lens. It reminded me that beauty is still everywhere—you just have to slow down and look for it.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There has been a learning curve so far in getting things up and running. Figuring out the best way to ship the art safely, getting it out there for the world to see and testing out new modalities to elevate my art have all proved challenging but i’m learning to embrace to journey.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I hand draw locations around Los angeles and then use acrylic markers to add bright and bold colors. I digitize and print the art as wall art and stickers. I think what sets me apart from others is my unique whimsical style. I try to change some details and colors to make it as if we are living in a fantasy land! I also draw commissions of people’s homes and I love being able to provide personalized gifts for people.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I think that it will continue to expand as people are moving away from
mass produced art. People are looking for colorful pieces to hang on their walls, or stick on their water bottles and laptops because eclectic maximalism is in! I also have the ability to push into many different areas such as greeting cards, tote bags, or whatever people want, so I see it as an endless well of opportunity.
