Today we’d like to introduce you to Sevdin Farkhadini.
Hi Sevdin, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started my career in banking and spent over 10 years growing in the financial sector, managing assets and purchasing securities. My main focus was working with high-net-worth clients in Russia. However, deep inside, I always felt drawn to the world of innovation and development.
In 2017, I became deeply interested in cryptocurrencies and fintech. I began actively studying the market while building my first websites for small businesses using WordPress. Around the same time, a friend of mine owned a marketing agency that was on the verge of closing, and I stepped in to help. Thanks to my financial background, data management skills, and project management experience, I was able to bring structure and turn chaos into a functioning system. Step by step, I entered the IT world — doing everything from Photoshop and illustrations to websites, video editing, and marketing, mainly for small businesses.
In 2021, some friends of mine launched a fintech startup aimed at combining traditional financial services with cryptocurrency solutions. We secured initial investments and developed working prototypes, which fully immersed me into the product design field as a UX/UI designer.
Unfortunately, with the outbreak of the war between Russia and Ukraine, everything changed: investors pulled out, the market closed for Russian companies, and the startup was frozen. I then joined ECOS as a Product Designer, but the situation in the country kept deteriorating. That’s when I made one of the biggest decisions of my life — to leave.
In 2023, my family — my pregnant wife, our two children, and I — crossed the border through Mexico and started a new life in the United States.
Here, I continue building my career as an independent designer. I now work with American companies, participating in various projects in the e-commerce sector: creating online stores, helping businesses grow, and actively integrating AI technologies to help companies optimize processes, save costs, and increase their market value.
Since the project flow is not yet stable, I combine my professional work with Instacart deliveries to support my family.
During the day, I manage deliveries, take time for fitness or hiking in the afternoon, and dedicate my evenings to design and development projects.
My journey is a story of constant growth, the courage to start over, and the belief that the best results are born through overcoming challenges.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road.
Moving to a new country with a pregnant wife and two children, starting from scratch, without any guarantees — it’s one of the toughest things I’ve ever done. I had to rebuild my career, network, and reputation from zero while providing for my family in a completely new environment.
The biggest challenges were not only financial — they were emotional too: staying focused when everything around you is uncertain, keeping the drive alive when opportunities are limited, and believing in yourself when the path forward isn’t always clear.
Finding clients, competing in a highly saturated market, balancing survival jobs with my professional growth — it all demanded resilience.
But through every obstacle, I saw new lessons. Every setback pushed me to become more resourceful, more patient, and more determined to succeed.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m an independent digital designer. My work is focused on helping businesses grow by combining beautiful design with smart, results-driven solutions. I create websites, online stores, branding systems, and digital experiences that not only look good but also deliver real business value.
I’m most proud of my ability to build from the ground up — to take a vision or even just an idea and turn it into something real, functional, and impactful. Many of the businesses I’ve worked with were small companies trying to find their voice and position in the market, and seeing them grow because of the work we built together is incredibly rewarding.
What sets me apart is my background. I come from a finance and investment world, so I approach every design and project not just from an artistic side, but also from a business and strategy perspective. I don’t just design something that looks nice — I think about how it will perform, convert, and evolve over time.
Today, I’m especially focused on integrating AI technologies into businesses, helping companies optimize their processes, save money, and increase their market value through innovation.
In everything I do, my goal is simple: to create design that moves people and moves businesses forward.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
Today I actively use AI in my daily work. I rely on ChatGPT to help me write project briefs, conduct research, analyze competitors, and generate ideas and visuals. I also use AI tools to create media content — short video clips, creative reels — which I share on my Instagram and integrate into marketing for my clients.
Right now, AI is already deeply involved in my process, and I believe it will only become more critical for businesses moving forward. Those who learn to master AI tools faster and deeper will have a serious advantage.
In my view, the future belongs to specialists who can manage multiple AI-driven tools like an ecosystem — one person leading several projects at once, combining creativity, strategy, and technology into real results.
