Meet Jennifer Jarrett of Silverlake

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Jarrett.

Hi Jennifer , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve been organizing for as long as I can remember. As a kid, at sleepovers, while other girls were still fast asleep, I’d be up reorganizing closets and styling bookshelves. In college, I was the one constantly rearranging my dorm room, always hunting for a better, more efficient setup.

Eventually, I realized that organizing wasn’t just something I was good at, it was something I could be good at for other people. It’s how I connect with people, how I solve problems, and how I bring a little more peace into peoples lives.

I founded Jenuinely Contained in 2018 and haven’t looked back. I’m now able to help clients transform their homes into beautifully organized, functional spaces that support the life they want to live.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting any business comes with its fair share of bumps, and mine was no exception. When I launched Jenuinely Contained, I knew I had the passion and the skill, but turning that into a full on business took time and A LOT of hustle. There’s more to being a professional home organizer than just organizing. You’re everything. The marketing team, the scheduler, the bookkeeper, you wear all the hats.

There were definitely growing pains, but each challenge helped me get clearer on my mission and the kind of business I wanted to build. It hasn’t always been smooth, but it has been and continues to be incredibly rewarding.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
What I’m known for is bringing a sense of fun and ease into what can sometimes feel like an overwhelming process. I believe organizing doesn’t have to be boring and painful. I’m there with humor, a game plan, and some fun music. Clients often say that working with me feels more like working with a really organized friend who just gets them and isn’t there to judge.

I specialize in creating personalized, sustainable organizing systems for a vast array of people. Everyday and every client is different, it’s never one size fits all. I take the time to understand my clients’ lifestyle and determine what will be the most efficient and effective way forward for them.

A particular passion on mine is working with clients’ with ADHD as I see what an enormous difference setting up systems and getting organized can make in their lives. I’ve had numerous clients reach out and say that they can never get organized because they have ADHD, but I help them develop the tools and systems to work against that misconception.

What I am most proud of is how I help people. I help them get organized, but I also help them feel seen and supported in their homes. When a client hugs me at the end of a session and tells me they already feel lighter, that makes my day. It’s not just about having an instagram worthy pantry, it’s about creating more ease as we move through our space. The transformation can be really powerful!

What sets me apart is my background in film production, oddly enough! That career taught me how to manage chaos, meet deadlines, and find creative solutions fast, all skills that translate beautifully into home organizing. Above all, I always lead with empathy. Everyone has a story and is coming from a different place. I consider it such an honor to be invited into people’s homes and lives to help them achieve their home based goals.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
My best advice would be that you have to put yourself out there. I know, it’s not earth shattering, but it really works. I’ve found that some of the best connections happen when you’re authentically you and you’re willing to show up consistently.

When I was starting out I joined NAPO so that I could connect with other home organizers. I was extremely lucky to meet a very successful organizer who took me under her wing and showed me the in’s and out’s of the business. She was incredibly supportive of me both as an assistant to her as well as me going out on my own and starting my own business, we remain close all these years later. I always strive to pay this kindness forward when I meet newer home organizers and entrepreneurs.

Joining a networking group was also a game changer for me. I think it’s important to find people in and outside your industry to learn from and gain a fresh perspective. Not only do we support and refer each other, but we also share advice and experiences that can actually apply to any industry.

At the end of the day I think that everything is about building real relationships and that has been the most rewarding part of growing my business.
