Meet Antwan Lawshe of Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Antwan Lawshe.

Hi Antwan, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
When i was a kid (like 8) i use to act a bit and would be in hollywood on auditions all the time. i ended up landing a KFC commercial and while on the set i was kinda mesmerised by all the moving pieces and it sparked my interest in knowing more about the roles each of these people played. Fast forward to adulthood I find myself enjoying great stories and telling them and imagining the visual component of these stories as well, so i did what i needed to do to put myself through film school. While there i was able to find the role that best suited my skill set, Director/Writer.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I feel like the roads been laid with milestones but in between those milestones it can get hard again sometimes, the biggest thing for me at times is just continuing to push the work and find solace in its completion not how much it’s engaged with per say, cause as long as you keep pushing you’ll find your audience.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m known for directing and writing, whether that be for a short film, photoshoot, commercial, etc. If it’s a visual medium i can conceptualize something dope for it, I promise. I’m proud of a film titled “Blu Forest” I wrote, directed and was able to drop back in October of 2023 on the KeyTv networks youtube channel that gained over 250k views and is currently the most watch short film on the channel, but I’m also proud of the projects I’ve put together myself and been apart of since then. I think what sets me apart from others would be my ability to be “sparked” by the world around me, it doesn’t take too much for me to get the idea all the time.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The art of detachment, put your best foot forward on a project do everything in your power to make it its best and if you know you did that learn from what you don’t like about it in the end and keep it pushing. You’ve got those lessons now the next piece will be stronger. Holding on to what’s already done is counterproductive, you can be putting that energy toward new ideas.
