Hi Nana, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Photography has been a transformative journey for me, beginning about a decade ago when I enrolled at the University of Ghana. It was during this pivotal time that I met a friend who shared my passion for visual storytelling; he had a camera, and I was eager to learn. I became his apprentice, soaking up all the knowledge and skills I could. A year later, I took the plunge and purchased my first camera, a Nikon D3200, which marked the true beginning of my career.
Those early days were incredibly exciting. Not only did I get to immerse myself in the art of photography, but I also discovered that it provided me with an opportunity to earn some extra income while studying. As I honed my craft and developed my unique style, my clientele began to grow. It’s been an exhilarating journey since then, and I’ve never looked back. Each click of the shutter has opened new doors, allowing me to explore the world through my lens and share my vision with others.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As a photographer, my journey has not been without its struggles. Like many in the creative field, I faced numerous challenges that tested my resolve and passion for the art. Some of these struggles are financial constraints, there is always a competitive landscape, client expectations and rejections, work and school and life balance especially when I started out and last but not the least creative blocks.
Despite these struggles, each challenge has contributed to my growth as a photographer. They have shaped my perspective, building resilience and a deeper appreciation for the art form. Embracing these difficulties has ultimately enriched my journey, reminding me of the passion that fuels my creativity.

What sets me apart as a photographer is a unique blend of personal vision, technical skill, and a deep understanding of human emotions. Here are several key elements that distinguish my work in this competitive field:

As a photographer, I believe success comes from a combination of technical skill, creativity, and strong interpersonal qualities. First, mastering the technical aspects—like lighting, composition, and post-processing—is essential to consistently produce high-quality work. Creativity is just as important, because it allows me to tell compelling stories through visuals and see ordinary scenes from unique perspectives.
Equally vital is the ability to connect with people—whether it’s clients, models, or collaborators. Being professional, adaptable, and a good communicator helps build trust and brings out the best in everyone involved. Lastly, staying curious and open to learning keeps me evolving as an artist and ensures my work remains fresh and relevant.”
