Today we’d like to introduce you to Shannon Quigley.
Hi Shannon, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Totally! My story really kicked off when I was 17. I started doing yoga to deal with anxiety- nothing else seemed to help, but something about moving, breathing, and sweating it out just worked. It grounded me in a way I hadn’t felt before, and honestly, it changed my whole life. That experience sparked something big, I knew I wanted to create a space where other people could feel that same kind of shift.
After getting trained in all kinds of different movement styles, I had this idea: what if I could bring it all together into one experience? One that didn’t just give you a solid workout, but helped you get out of your head, feel good in your body, and leave class feeling lit up.
Thats when The Yoga Roots was created!!
So in 2011, it all began in our garage! Just a few of us, then packed-out classes, sweat everywhere, music pumping, so much laughter, and this incredible community started to form. From the beginning, it wasn’t just about fitness- it was about connection, support, and showing up for each other in a real way. I knew I wanted everyone who came through the door to feel that.
Fast forward through the last 14 years, we’ve outgrown and upgraded our space three times, each time leveling up to make the experience even more amazing. And through it all, community has stayed at the heart of everything we do. It’s what fuels us.
Then in 2023, with things going better than ever, we expanded and opened up a whole new studio – Good Society Club. It’s a heated studio too, but this one fuses in reformer Pilates and equipment-based movement that brings everything to a whole new level. It’s a fresh vibe, but rooted in the same values- fun, fire, connection, and making people feel strong and alive in their bodies.
Our mission has always been simple: create connection, empower each other, and raise the bar both on and off the mat. Whether it’s your first class or your hundredth, we want you to come as you are, do what you can, and leave feeling better than when you walked in.
At The Yoga Roots and now at Good Society Club, you’re not just stepping into a class, you’re stepping into a community. You’ll move, sweat, laugh, meet awesome people, and maybe even surprise yourself with what you’re capable of. We’re so excited to keep growing, learning, and creating something beautiful together.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Oh, definitely not! It’s been a journey of constant pivots. In the beginning, I was teaching 30+ classes a week! It was a grind, but it gave me the foundation I needed. Over time, I realized that I couldn’t do it all by myself. That’s when I started building an amazing team, and let me tell you, finding the right people who share your vision and energy is everything. They’ve been a game-changer!
But beyond the teaching, there was so much I had to learn. Running a business is no joke. There were (and still are haha) a lot of late nights, a lot of falling and getting back up, and a lot of growth. Every bump along the way (like covid was a big one) was a lesson, and it’s all about adapting, learning, and pivoting as things evolve.
And then there’s the whole balancing act of being a wife and mom while trying to run a business. Some days it’s all about juggling family, work, self-care, everything, and trying to make sure nothing (and no one) gets lost in the shuffle. But it’s all part of the ride, and as I’ve grown from being a young 25 year old girl trying to figure things out, to now almost 40 (still figuring things out -haha ) but I’ve learned to be kinder to myself in the process.
I do gotta say though, leaning on my husband has been huge, too. I used to think I had to do everything myself, but I’ve learned that sharing the load makes everything better. Even if its just me bouncing ideas and venting. He’s been my rock and a huge part of this journey, and having his support has made all the difference. The real MVP!
All in all – the challenges, the late nights, the growth, it’s all been worth it. Every step, every pivot has shaped what we are today, and the journey’s only made us better. The heart of us is the people, and their loyalty and spirit kept us going, even when it felt impossible.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Our business is all about movement, music, heat, and most importantly- community. We’ve created two unique studio spaces that are driven by connection, energy, and the belief that fitness should feel like a celebration.
Our first studio, The Yoga Roots, has been around since 201, it all started in our garage with just a few mats and a whole lot of heart. We’ve grown into a powerful space known for our sweaty, high-vibe classes that combine yoga, strength, and movement in a way that’s fun, empowering, and totally addictive. We specialize in creating experiences that go beyond the workout; our classes are designed to help you get out of your head and into your body, to shake things up, laugh, and leave feeling lit up from the inside out.
In 2023, we expanded and opened our second studio, Good Society Club: a heated reformer Pilates studio that fuses everything we love about music, movement, and community with the addition of equipment to take it all to the next level. It’s where Pilates meets power, and every class is an experience, not just a workout.
What sets us apart? The vibe. The people. The energy. You can feel it the moment you walk through the doors- no pressure to be perfect, just permission to be yourself.
We’re most proud of the space we’ve built not just physically, but emotionally. Our studios are places where people feel seen, supported, and inspired. Whether it’s someone’s first class or their hundredth, they’re walking into a space where they can be themselves, work hard, and feel good doing it.
At the end of the day, it’s not just about fitness- it’s about people. And that’s what makes us different. We’re here to move with you, grow with you, and have a damn good time while doing it.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is to stay true to myself and always trust my gut. There have been so many moments where I had to make big decisions, and every time I listened to my inner voice, things fell into place. Staying aligned with what feels right for me and for the business has been absolute key.
And above all, I’ve learned that the journey is about enjoying the process. Having fun and celebrating the wins- big and small is what keeps it all going. When we’re having fun and staying true to our purpose, it doesn’t feel like work. It’s that joy that fuels us and makes everything worth it!
