Today we’d like to introduce you to Luvia Mosso.
Hi luvia, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started my journey in 2020 during the pandemic. I definitely have to give credit to my dog Bailey (the husky). She came into my life full of spunk, life, and color. I always say my world used to be black and white with specks of grey. Then she came and colored my world. Something beautiful was created among chaos and uncertainty. I didn’t know how to sew or do any of the things I know now such as: networking, selling, talking to people, creating, sewing… etc. My mother in law taught me how to sew and the rest is history. I also became a new mom in 2021 adding more of a challenge since I had no clue whether I would be able to continue with Chasing Puppy Dreams or not. Fortunately it has all worked out and now my daughter definitely takes a part in my business.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Some struggles of mine were: not knowing how to sew so I had to make a decision whether or not this was important enough for me to focus and learn a new skill which I did. I was also very timid and had social anxiety, well I can say that by the end of 2023 I wasn’t feeling that social anxiety anymore. I was able to overcome that, I love talking to people and getting to know them. I created my own website, it took me months and it’s still not where it’s going to be but I’m proud because I took the time and made the effort to learn to make one. I also didn’t know how to sell in person or online, well all that changed as well. One of my favorite parts of starting this journey is that I’ve gotten to listen to so many people’s stories with their pets. Many happy beautiful stories of love between humans and their pets. I’ve also heard heartbreaking stories that have left my customers/friends in tears but my favorite part is me getting to say something beautiful to that person in that moment when they’re feeling down and sad, I’m able to bring a smile to their face and plant some warmth in their hearts and that makes me so happy. Every time I see them leaving with joy I feel so happy and fulfilled.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
What Chasing Puppy Dreams became popular for or known for are my best selling Mexican inspired pet bandanas and Charrito Bows. I am so proud of my creations, my work… My art didn’t happen over night. I’ve spent so much time perfecting my craft with love, every bandana and bow that I make with my own two hands is created with love, light, passion and intention. Intention to bring happiness to both my paying customer and their pets. I am so proud for incorporating my culture, my roots, my background and mixing it up with bright, bold beautiful colors that transform pets and make their parents happy, proud and full of joy. I truly believe that’s what sets me apart from others. For me it’s not just about the money. Of course I want the money don’t get me wrong. But what really makes me happy and makes my heart beat and fills me up are meeting all kinds of dogs and even cats sometimes and meeting their humans. It truly touches my heart and soul every time I meet someone at a pop up that came just to see me… To be honest I wasn’t always this confident and I don’t feel it all the time but I do have to say “Thank You” to everyone who has came to see me even if it has only been once. I am so grateful and will forever be grateful because all of you saw what I didn’t and couldn’t see in me. You all opened my eyes to myself and for that I will be eternally grateful.
What does success mean to you?
I define success not only in the accomplishments that I make but in the lives that I’m able to change. In every smile I see in my customers faces, in every wagging tail, in every pet that comes over to greet me. Success to me is staying humble and knowing there’s enough for everyone. Success is sharing your love, your light with others who are walking in darkness. If I’m able to share and give a little of my light to someone who needs it then I’m successful. My mission was accomplished.
