Hi Nate, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
These conversations have always had a bit of a consistent theme. As you follow my journey you will notice that the ability to grow in any metropolis, not just in Los Angeles, is your intention on staying productive and not busy. I did not start with any background in business or in showbiz. However, hard work beats talent and your ability to connect and collaborate is the foundation to acquiring deals and opportunity.
If you can work on yourself by gathering skills and the correct self-development (not all self-development is good simply because they declare it to be) then you can build something concrete. As I alluded to earlier, the ability be *productive* goes a long way. Too many people do busy work – whether it is on their daily method of operation or when they go to an event and take endless pictures on the red carpet. If you truly want to succeed, your ability to connect with people and filter quickly through those who are not aligned with your goals and mission is paramount to having success as rapidly as possible.
Having a mentor and following through with action is key. You will never have a perfect world scenario but networking in likeminded places can get you far. It only takes one big win to forget all the losses. You are the sum average of the people you closely associate yourself with.
What did you do today to accomplish your ultimate goal? What can you do differently? How has all the events you’ve been going to been productive rather than busy work?
How did I get to where I am? I separated the busy from the productive and focused on what was creating real change in my life.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Of course not, and if you are reading this you are likely encountering the same struggles that we all have. The ability to go from event to event, from call to call, with no loss of enthusiasm is a skill. You must become bulletproof by going through the process. This is why a mentor and a solid group of people is incredibly important. Sometimes you want it more than the people who are around you and you need to quickly be able to surround yourself with new people who are on the same mission.
This leads to one of the most difficult things for people to do. The ability to let go! The story of the crabs weaves a tale of a bucket of crabs that all attempt to escape, but when one gets close, another pulls them down. Some people aren’t afraid of you failing, they are afraid of you succeeding. Think about that. It is because their ability may not match yours and their ego can’t stand being wrong.
This part is difficult because once you decided to spend less time then your own ego might get bruised. You are afraid of waht people may say. You are afraid of what people might comment. The thing is, most people don’t care. They read the gossip for a minute then go back to the worries of their day. If you go through life attempting to chase the birds you will never plant the seeds and harvest. Mastery of self is the most difficult part as we are prone to reaction.
There are over 8 billion people out there and you are worried what a handful says. Look at your favorite celebrity! Look at your business mentors! Scroll through history and religious texts. Everyone doing something grand had opposition. If it isn’t adding to your happiness or to your income, you must trudge forward.
It’s okay to cry sometimes, simply close the door to your penthouse when you do it.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
The harder you work, the luckier you get. The same wind blows on us all and it’s up to us to determine the sail. The wisdom books of the Bible, particularly when you combine Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and Job lay a blueprint on our own life of when to be passionate, when to be stoic, and when to have faith. Ecclesiastes teaches us that life may be hazy but living in the fear of GOD gives us peace. In the book of Matthew it teaches us “Do not worry.” When you have a hole in your heart where GOD should be, you will fill it with something else. That something else is usually a distraction from your lack of dedication to your craft and will lead you down an unproductive and dark path.
Heed the lessons of the farmer. Everyday ask yourself, how many seeds have I planted? The seeds you plant today you will harvest in 90 days. In this global economy with e-commerce you can have success rather quickly depending on your system and you ability to work harder and plant more seeds than everyone else.
