Daily Inspiration: Meet Dr. Jaime G Raygoza

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Jaime G Raygoza

Hi Dr. Jaime G, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey began with a passion for helping others, which led me to start my career as a lifeguard and water safety instructor. Over time, I transitioned into case management and mental health advocacy, driven by a desire to support individuals in more profound ways. A pivotal moment came when I experienced a life-altering car accident, which redirected my focus towards understanding resilience and personal growth.

I pursued a PsyD in Human and Organizational Psychology, aiming to help professionals navigate workplace challenges. During my studies, I discovered Laughter Yoga, which became a cornerstone of my coaching approach. This blend of academic expertise and personal experience led me to found Rainbow Career Coaching, where I empower LGBTQ+ professionals and allies to thrive in their careers and personal lives. Today, I continue to grow through ongoing learning and self-reflection, ensuring that my coaching remains innovative and impactful.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road to where I am today has certainly had its challenges. As a first-generation Mexican-American and proud gay Latino with ADHD, I’ve faced numerous obstacles throughout my personal and professional journey.

One of the most significant struggles was balancing my ambitious nature with my well-being. In my pursuit of success, I often pushed myself to the limit, juggling full-time work, academic studies, and personal commitments. This intense drive led to a serious car accident at 23 due to exhaustion, which became a wake-up call to reevaluate my priorities and approach to life and work.

Another challenge was navigating the professional world as a member of underrepresented communities. I encountered unsupportive authority figures and had to overcome biases related to my identity as a gay Latino professional with ADHD.

Establishing Rainbow Career Coaching also came with its own set of hurdles. Starting a business requires not only expertise in your field but also skills in marketing, finance, and operations. Learning to wear multiple hats while staying true to my vision for the company was a significant learning curve.

Despite these struggles, each challenge has been a stepping stone, shaping my resilience, empathy, and the unique perspective I bring to my coaching practice today. These experiences have deepened my understanding of the obstacles many professionals face and have fueled my passion for helping others navigate their own career journeys with confidence and authenticity.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m the founder of Rainbow Career Coaching, where I help professionals, especially those in the LGBTQ+ community, navigate their careers and manage stress. My specialty is blending academic insights from my PsyD in Human and Organizational Psychology with practical techniques like Laughter Yoga to create a holistic coaching experience.

What I’m most proud of is creating a space where people can be their authentic selves while building fulfilling careers. I’m known for my empathetic approach and ability to connect with clients on a personal level, which I believe sets me apart. My journey, including overcoming personal challenges and advocating for diversity, has given me a unique perspective that I bring to my coaching.

What really sets me apart is my commitment to helping underrepresented communities thrive in the workplace. I’m passionate about making career development accessible and enjoyable for everyone, and I think that’s what makes Rainbow Career Coaching special.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I don’t really believe in luck in the traditional sense. To me, it’s all about consistency, perseverance, and being true to your values. What some might call “luck” is often the result of showing up day in and day out, putting in the hard work, and being prepared when opportunities arise.

In my life and business, what’s made the difference is my commitment to advocating for what I believe in and staying consistent with my goals. Sure, there have been moments that might seem like “good luck” – like meeting the right person at the right time or stumbling upon a great opportunity. But these moments happened because I was actively putting myself out there, networking, and constantly working on self-improvement.

Even what others might label as “bad luck” – like my car accident – I see as a pivotal moment that redirected my path and ultimately led me to where I am today. It wasn’t luck; it was about how I chose to respond to that challenge and use it as a catalyst for growth.

I also believe in the concept of Karma, where our actions have a ripple effect on the world. This belief drives me to put as much positive energy into the universe as possible. That’s why I’m involved with Gay for Good, where I serve as a Chapter Leader for the Orange County/Long Beach area. Through this role, I help organize events, partner with non-profits, and contribute to creating positive change in our community.

It’s not just about personal success; it’s about using my platform to make a difference and spread good karma. This mindset has been crucial in building Rainbow Career Coaching and in my personal growth journey.
