Daily Inspiration: Meet Ethan Mole

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ethan Mole

Hi Ethan, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
For as long as I can remember, I was in love with movies and music. I grew up in a house full of music always blasting on the speakers, and watching movies with my parents and sisters all the time. My mom took note of my interest in movies, and thought I should audition for the school play in middle school. I ended up getting a lead role, and that was the real start of my journey in the entertainment industry. I continued to do plays in middle school and high school, and also joined the drumline in the high school marching band. After high school, I attended Columbia College Chicago to study acting for real. While I was there I started a band called Friday Pilots Club with a few good friends of mine and we went on to play many concerts throughout our 4 years at Columbia. After college graduation, the band decided to split a part due to conflicting views on where it was headed, and I moved to Los Angeles to take my dreams to the next level. For the last 6 years in Los Angeles I’ve been acting in commercials, feature films, shorts, you name it. I’ve also been playing drums with multiple bands around the city, and having the time of my life doing it. I can’t wait to see what the next 6 years have in store.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road for me. The first few years were a huge struggle. The rejection, the multiple jobs at once, the struggling to make ends meet definitely took a tole on me. But I can confidently say those trials have made me the person I am today, and I’m way stronger and better for it. That being said, there are still struggles. Los Angeles is a tough city, and I know I’ll always find struggles as long as I’m here. However, after living here for over 6 years, I know how to properly face those challenges and continue moving forward, chasing my dream.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am an actor and a drummer. Ever since I was a little kid, I naturally gravitated towards the arts. Acting always felt like second nature to me, and I always had so much fun doing it. The same goes for music. I fell in love with music at an early age, and knew I never wanted to stop. If someone asked me what I am the most proud of, I’d probably say the fact that I made the decision to follow my dreams. A lot of people are unfortunately too scared or have too many negative voices in their lives telling them that they would be crazy to do that. For me, I luckily had a very supportive family and friend group who believed in me, but I also just always knew that’s the direction I was meant to go. It’s almost like this stuff is ingrained in my DNA, and I know for a fact I wouldn’t be as good doing anything else. I’ve also never been someone to “follow the crowd” and I think that sets me apart from others. I’ve always been very good at trusting my own intuition and following my heart.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I don’t care what anyone says, if you don’t have perseverance and work ethic, you can’t get anywhere in life. It doesn’t matter how talented you are. If Los Angeles has taught me anything, it’s taught me that. The only reason I’ve consistently been working in this city, is because I’ve put myself out there every single day, and haven’t waited for someone to come to me.
