Today we’d like to introduce you to Ella Boyajian Cheryl Kramer.
Hi Ella Boyajian, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Cheryl:
I’ve been practicing acupuncture and bodywork for nearly two decades, but the idea for Sunburst Vitality came from something deeper than just my credentials — it came from years of dreaming about what true, whole-person healing could look like. I knew I didn’t want a clinic space where clients felt like just another appointment. I wanted to create a space where people felt genuinely cared for — a spa-like environment that still delivered real, clinical results. When I met Ella as a patient years ago, that vision started to take shape in a new way.
Ella:
I was actually referred to Cheryl for acupuncture when I was struggling with hormone imbalance and fertility challenges. I had no cycle, my body was totally burned out, and I was overwhelmed by the typical healthcare route. Cheryl changed everything for me — her treatments, her insight, and her belief in me helped me heal, regulate my cycle, and ultimately become pregnant. But even more than that, she became a friend. Over time, we realized we shared a passion for community, for women’s health, and for creating a wellness space that felt elevated but completely approachable. That’s when Sunburst Vitality was born.
Together:
We built Sunburst as a true collaboration — combining Cheryl’s deep clinical experience in Eastern medicine with Ella’s background in community-building, education, and storytelling. Today, our space is more than just a wellness studio — it’s a hub. We host events, we educate, we connect with other practitioners, and we hold space for people at all different stages of life. We believe everyone deserves to feel supported, seen, and vibrant — and that’s what we’re here to create.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Ella:
One of our biggest challenges was finding the right space. We weren’t just looking for a unit in a strip mall or a sterile office. We wanted something that felt like an Ojai retreat center — warm, beautiful, peaceful — but right here in Thousand Oaks. When we finally found our historic building, with its exposed brick and sunshine-filled rooms, we knew we’d found home. But getting to that point took patience, and a whole lot of faith.
Cheryl:
We also knew our concept was a little unconventional — we’re not a traditional acupuncture clinic, and we’re not just a day spa either. We’re really the first of our kind in this area: an acupuncture-forward wellness hub that brings together Eastern medicine, bodywork, foot soaks, red light therapy, events, and a curated boutique — all in a space that feels like you’re being truly cared for. Navigating how to explain that to people, and figuring out the systems to support it, took some trial and error.
Together:
But the response from our community has made it all worth it. We’ve had clients walk in and say, “I didn’t even know I was looking for this — but this is what I’ve needed.” That’s how we know we’re on the right path.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Sunburst Vitality?
Sunburst Vitality is an acupuncture-forward wellness hub rooted in whole-body healing, community, and connection. Guided by the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine, we offer a range of services including acupuncture, massage therapy, red light therapy, detox foot soaks, and customized wellness programs — all in a space that feels more like a retreat than a clinic.
What sets us apart is how we blend the time-tested structure of Eastern medicine with a warm, spa-like experience. Clients often say they feel instantly at ease — welcomed with tea or kombucha, and cared for with personalized treatment plans that might include acupuncture, bloodwork review, supplements, and realistic lifestyle shifts. Our goal is to support your health in a way that feels approachable, grounded, and deeply effective.
We’re especially known for our work in women’s health — from fertility and pregnancy to postpartum and perimenopause — and we’re proud to collaborate with local practitioners, host vibrant community events, and provide a space where healing doesn’t feel clinical, but communal.
Starting June 2024, we’re expanding our offerings to include holistic microneedling and our facial rejuvenation system — a powerful blend of Eastern and modern aesthetics that stimulates collagen, promotes radiance, and supports long-term skin health from the inside out.
At our core, we believe you deserve to feel amazing in your body — and you don’t have to do it alone. Whether you’re coming in for acupuncture, attending a women’s circle, or browsing our curated boutique, our mission is to help you reconnect with your most vibrant self.
That’s the vitality we’re here for.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Something surprising? Well, Ella spends her weekends tending to her family’s hobby farm — think cows, chickens, and the dream of a future food forest. And Cheryl, before becoming the acupuncturist and healer she is today, was a certified labor doula and has a background in catering! She’s an incredible home cook who lights up when she’s feeding people — which might explain why our space feels a little like being welcomed into someone’s warm, cozy home.
We both believe that healing starts with connection — and for us, that connection often comes through food, community, and a shared love of meaningful rituals.
