Hidden Gems: Meet Savannah of Th3 Grav3yard

Today we’d like to introduce you to Savannah.

Hi Savannah , please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
When i was 14 I had a life changing cervical spine surgery that took a while to recover from. I have lasting chronic pain as a result and when i started working at 15 and a half I realized how much pain i would be in at the end of the day of very minor labor. That didn’t stop me from working and i moved around a few jobs landing a shift supervisor position at one of the biggest coffee companies in the world. I finished high school working here and when i was graduated I felt a lack of direction. I knew i always had a passion for fashion if you will and had even sold on depop periodically before my surgery. While working one morning a shelving unit fell on me and injured me on the job. This led to even more pain in the areas that i already had chronic pain in. This pushed me to make a decision and i knew what i had to do, so i slowly found my way out of that position and spent my time thrifting and uploading on depop. It was so fulfilling and successful that i fully quit my job and started focusing full time on this. After about 9 months of selling online i applied for my first flea market and the rest is history. It’s been almost a year and a half of doing what i love and i am so grateful that i have the opportunity to pursue it

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I don’t think anyone with a small business would say it’s a smooth road. There have definitely been sacrifices and struggles along the way, including upfront costs of sourcing, storage, gas, and shipping supplies. Doing everything on my own can be hard sometimes but luckily i have an amazing support system that is always there for me when i need the extra help. I also find that because the amount of money i make depends on how much i work, i will stress myself to work as much as possible but Im learning to give myself grace and allow myself to take breaks and vacations which are very necessary to keep the delicate work fun balance

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Th3 Grav3yard?
When I started Th3 Grav3yard I was aware of how saturated the secondhand thrifting space was so I knew I had to do things to make me stand out. I noticed that a lot of vendors I had seen while shopping as a customer at flea markets did not offer a large selection of plus size vintage clothing that was of the same quality and style of the straight sized clothing. And while I am not plus size myself I strive to source high quality plus size vintage that i would be proud to wear myself. I was also very aware of the high prices that a lot of sellers ask and while it is mostly just reflective off what people are willing to spend and what items have sold for in the past I adopted a “$30 and under” rule for all the things in my flea market booth so that people with a smaller budget know they don’t have to peruse through things they won’t be looking to buy. I find that fostering a size and price inclusive environment is not as hard as it is made out to be and it makes people happy to be able to find adorable clothes that don’t break the bank.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I correlate success directly to happiness. While most people think of success as something they can calculate using monetary value I believe that “the pursuit of happiness” is truly at the core of everything and if you aren’t aiming to be happy you won’t end up being successful beccause what you put out into the world will come back to you.
