Today we’d like to introduce you to Sparsh Verma.
Hi Sparsh, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Music has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember, but it wasn’t until high school that I truly embraced it as more than just a hobby. I first started playing the piano when I was five, but like many childhood interests, it faded into the background. Years later, I picked it up again, almost by chance, and found myself completely immersed in learning songs and exploring music theory. That’s when I fell in love with music all over again—this time, with a deeper sense of purpose.
As I started listening to more and more music, I became fascinated by the art of composing. Film scores, in particular, captivated me. I was naturally drawn to instrumental music, especially since I had no background in singing. The world of film music and production felt like a perfect fit for me, and I knew this was what I wanted to do.
Coming from India, pursuing a career in music wasn’t the easiest path, but I was fortunate to have incredibly supportive parents. They did everything they could to expose me to opportunities that helped me better understand this career, whether through friends or close family. Their encouragement gave me the confidence to take this path seriously.
I decided to study Music Production and Mass Media in my undergraduate years, which opened up a whole new world for me. Learning how to bring my musical ideas to life through production was an exhilarating experience—it felt like I could create anything. Beyond formal education, I spent countless hours self-learning, refining my skills, and experimenting with different styles.
In 2020, I got my first big opportunity when I was asked to assist an award-winning composer duo on a commercial series. That project became the stepping stone for my career, and from there, I was lucky to work on several projects as both a composer and an orchestrator for international films.
Wanting to push myself further, I moved to the U.S. to pursue a Master’s degree in Media Music. Now, as I transition to Los Angeles, I’m excited for the next chapter of my journey—creating music that tells stories, collaborating with incredible artists, and continuously evolving as a composer. It’s been an incredible ride so far, and I can’t wait to see where this path takes me next.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like any creative career, pursuing music comes with its own set of hardships, especially when it comes to financial stability and long-term security. I understood the risks early on, but I still chose this path because I knew I wouldn’t be truly happy doing anything else.
One of the biggest factors that helped me navigate these challenges was the unwavering support of my parents. In a field where uncertainty is the norm, having that kind of encouragement made a huge difference. It gave me the confidence to keep going, even when things didn’t work out the way I had hoped.
Being a musician also means learning to deal with rejection. I’ve faced countless setbacks—missed opportunities, projects that didn’t pan out, and moments of doubt. There were times when I questioned whether I was on the right path, but I knew the only way forward was to keep pushing. Every failure became a lesson, and every challenge shaped me into the artist I am today.
Despite the struggles, I wouldn’t trade this journey for anything. The highs and lows are all part of the process, and each step forward, no matter how small, makes it all worth it.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am primarily a composer for media—film, TV, and games—and I’ve been in this field for the past seven years. While I also work as a record producer and indie artist, my true passion lies in creating music that serves a story. As a media composer, my goal is always to enhance the director’s vision, ensuring that my music supports the narrative rather than overpowering it.
One of the things I’m most proud of is the relationships I’ve built with my collaborators. I’ve had the privilege of working on multiple projects with the same teams, which speaks to the trust and understanding we’ve developed over time. Music is a deeply collaborative art, and I always strive to create an environment where ideas flow freely and the final piece serves the project in the best way possible.
What sets me apart is my sound—an organic blend of modern and orchestral elements infused with expressive electronic textures. My focus is always on character, story, and emotional depth, ensuring that the music feels like an integral part of the storytelling process. My strongest skill is my ability to translate emotions into sound, helping bring a story to life through music.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
All they can do is just reach out. I have always loved collaborating. It is a medium to create something beautiful and most of all – LEARN
I would say the best way to support an artist would be just to listen to their Music and help share it with the world.
To be appreciated is what every artist deserves and needs to create more and more and get better
