Hi Katayoon, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My path hasn’t been the easiest, but every challenge shaped who I am today. My journey into the legal field began in my early years, working alongside my father in his business. Those formative experiences taught me the value of hard work, resilience, and a solutions-oriented mindset—qualities that continue to shape my approach today.I grew up taking on a lot of responsibility early on, which taught me resilience and drive. Law school was then its own grind, but pushed through, and after years of learning and growing in the legal world, I took the leap to start Cooper & Iravani LLP.
I’m now a proud partner at Cooper & Iravani LLP, a law firm that focuses on business, entertainment, real estate, and employment law.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Smooth? Not even close. Juggling home life, school, and work meant I had to grow up fast. Add in personal hardships and trying to break into the legal world, and let’s just say—there was a lot of sleepless nights involved.
In fact, law school and the CA Bar Exam were no joke, and getting my foot in the door was just as tough. But every challenge taught me resilience. Even now, running my own firm comes with its own rollercoaster of highs and hurdles.
The road isn’t always easy, but in those “roads” where the real growth happens—and honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I was independent, curious, and maybe a little too determined for my own good. Growing up, I had to take on a lot of responsibility early, which made me resourceful and quick on my feet. I was always asking questions, always trying to figure things out—whether it was school, life, or how to solve whatever challenge was in front of me.
I’ve always loved storytelling, problem-solving, and a good debate (which, in hindsight, probably made me a handful). That natural drive led me to law, where I get to channel all of that into advocating for others. Looking back, it makes sense—I’ve always been someone who steps up, speaks up, and finds a way forward.
