Inspiring Conversations with Kelsey Myers of Tortis Sportswear

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelsey Myers

Kelsey, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started Tortis Sportswear after noticing how male-dominated the sport of triathlon is and the opportunity to better support and invite more women into the sport. Personally, I’ve struggled to find swim, cycling, and running apparel that is both functional and exciting to wear. Tortis is a curated collective of boutique brands designed specifically for the female body, combining performance and style to empower women in endurance sports.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The biggest challenge I’ve faced is funding. Since launching Tortis Sportswear two years ago, I’ve entirely self-funded the brand. There’s so much potential for growth, but financial constraints have limited how far I can take it.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Tortis Sportswear is a curated collective of boutique brands designed specifically for the adult female athlete. I started Tortis after recognizing how male-dominated the sport of triathlon is and the need for more performance-driven, stylish, and well-fitting apparel for women. Many women, myself included, struggle to find gear that is both functional and inspiring to wear—Tortis solves that by offering premium swim, cycling, and running apparel tailored for the female body.

What sets Tortis apart is its carefully curated selection of independent brands that prioritize quality, fit, and performance. Rather than a one-size-fits-all approach, we bring together the best in boutique sportswear, making it easier for women to find gear that truly works for them.

I’m most proud of creating a space where women feel seen and supported in endurance sports. Tortis isn’t just about apparel—it’s about building a community, breaking barriers in the sport, and empowering more women to get involved and stay engaged.

I want readers to know that Tortis Sportswear is here to support them, whether they’re training for their first race or looking for high-quality gear that meets their needs. We’re always evolving and looking for new ways to serve the women’s endurance community, and I’m excited to continue growing the brand.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Look for someone who sees the whole version of you. In business, there’s no shortage of advice—some of it will apply, and some won’t. I met one of my mentors, Wendy Morgan, through a women’s cycling group, and we later bonded over shared traumatic experiences. Having a mentor who understands what drives you both personally and professionally is invaluable—they’ll be better equipped to support you in a way that truly resonates. And, of course, seek out someone with more experience in their field than you, so you can continue to learn and grow.
