Today we’d like to introduce you to Erin Norris
Hi Erin, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Sure! I like to think of my journey as a bit of a zigzag—one that’s shaped me in ways I never could have planned. Growing up, I was an athlete, which gave me a real appreciation for discipline, teamwork, and, honestly, a little grit. That foundation came in handy later, especially when I dove headfirst into the startup world.
Before starting Ruby Works Co.™, I wore a lot of hats—working at a startup and stumbled my way into a role as an executive assistant. Those roles taught me so much about organization, problem-solving, and what it really means to support a vision from the ground up. I helped launch new ventures, led hiring processes, managed my own sales portfolio, and realized that getting to market projects and streamline systems were my favorite things.
The dream has always been to be a creative and strategic partner for businesses. I realized I had a knack for writing and designing websites, but what truly excites me is helping businesses bring their ideas to life. It’s not just about making something look great—it’s about building something that works, that grows, and that feels authentic.
Starting Ruby Works Co.™ was my way of saying, ‘Okay, I can do this on my terms.’ It’s been a mix of scary and exhilarating, but I’ve been able to carve out a space where I get to collaborate with amazing clients and help them tell their stories in a way that’s meaningful. And that’s been really fun.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced as a business owner is learning to ask for help—and it’s something that took me over a year to solve for. Early on, I realized that one of the smartest things I could do for myself, my business, and my clients was to seek out insights and guidance from mentors and experts who’ve walked this path before me. But I hesitated to make commitments out of a desire to be nimble.
Getting help has been nothing short of transformative. It’s opened doors I didn’t even know existed, expanded my network in ways I couldn’t have imagined, and given me the confidence to tackle challenges I might have otherwise avoided. I’m so grateful to have a community of smart, talented, and generous people I can call on when I feel stuck or need a fresh perspective—or even a fourth opinion.
Not to mention, it saves SO much time compared to trying to figure it all out the hard way. Coming from a scrappy startup background, I’m pretty resourceful—I can figure out a lot on my own (or with the help of my trusty friend, Google). But there’s no substitute for the value of a well-timed insight from someone with real experience.
Admitting you need help isn’t always easy, but I’ve learned that leaning on others doesn’t make you less capable. It makes you sharper, more efficient, and better equipped to grow.
Every one of my clients and projects benefit when I ask for help.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Ruby Works Co.™?
At Ruby Works Co.™, I see myself as a marketing partner for my clients, someone who helps them build a solid foundation for growth. For many of the businesses I work with, that partnership begins with creating or revamping their website—designing a digital home that truly captures their essence and speaks directly to their audience. If they already have a designer on their team, I often slide into a copywriter and strategist role, which is somehow even more fun.
My approach combines clean, strategic design with compelling copy that reflects who my clients are and what they stand for. It’s not just about having a beautiful site (though I’m a firm believer that aesthetics matter); it’s about creating a space that works hard for the business—building trust, attracting the right audience, and moving visitors to action.
Often, the work starts with a website, but it rarely ends there. By nailing the messaging and visuals, we lay the groundwork for future marketing efforts, whether it’s email campaigns, social media, or beyond. My goal is to ensure that every element works together seamlessly to support my clients’ goals, making their businesses not just look polished but feel ready to thrive.
It’s a collaborative process, and I handle the heavy lifting—strategy, design, copy—so my clients can stay focused on what they do best. Together, we create something that’s not just functional, but deeply aligned with their vision.
How do you think about happiness?
There’s nothing better than seeing my clients light up when their website feels like them. Watching someone realize that their business now has a home that’s not only beautiful but functional—and knowing that it will help them grow—that’s what makes me happiest.
I also love the moments when everything clicks in a project: the copy is sharp, the design sings, and it all just works together perfectly. Those are the moments that remind me why I started this business in the first place—to help people bring their vision to life in a way that feels effortless and impactful.
And honestly? It’s also about the relationships. I’ve been lucky to collaborate with some truly incredible people, and being part of their journey—cheering them on, solving challenges together, and celebrating wins—is the most rewarding part of what I do.
