Hi Madison, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I moved to Los Angeles from a small town in Michigan to pursue a career in esthetics, starting out as a makeup artist. Early on, I noticed how many women struggled with skin concerns, which made me reflect on my own experience with rosacea—something I was constantly trying to conceal. That realization sparked my deeper interest in skincare and wellness, leading me to esthetician school and setting me on the path into the skincare industry.
During my journey, I met my business partner, Leslie Kritzer, and had the opportunity to train under her expertise. We quickly saw how well we complimented eachother and recognized a gap in the industry and decided to create what we felt was missing—a true skin sanctuary offering personalized treatments and curated retail products at the intersection of beauty, skincare, and wellness.
In 2016, we co-founded Skin Worship, a holistic skincare destination rooted in both science and spirituality. Our flagship location in Beverly Hills offers results-driven treatments infused with healing elements, where mind, body, and skin come together. We also launched a fountaional line of Skin Worship skincare products that have a cult following.
Beyond traditional facials, Skin Worship integrates skin-to-soul rituals like guided meditation and an infrared amethyst-crystal biomat to enhance the experience offered by Leslie myself, and our team of top industry estheticians and bodyworkers. Our boutique also carries a carefully curated selection of professional-grade skincare and wellness products.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of the biggest challenges I faced early on as an entrepreneur was navigating the financial instability that comes with starting and growing a business. Investing in myself and our vision meant long hours, unpredictable income, and the constant pressure of making it all work while juggling countless responsibilities—(client relationships, managing scheduling, product development, accounting, inventory, social media, hiring and firing ect) to name a few. It’s not easy wearing all the hats, and it’s something I continue to work on every day.
Another major hurdle is learning how to manage and inspire a team while still being fully present for my own clientele as well as handling the daily operations of the business. Running a small business is a lot to manage, and the pressure to succeed never really goes away.
Work-life balance was a major challenge for me, especially in the early years. When you’re building something from the ground up, it’s easy to let work consume every aspect of your life. But as I got married and started a family, I realized the importance of setting boundaries. Learning to navigate the demands of both my personal life and my business was a process—one that ultimately made me a better leader and a more grounded business owner. That said, I’ve come to understand that “balance” isn’t a fixed destination—it’s a constant dance, especially when you have a business partner. There’s no perfect formula for work-life harmony; instead, it’s a fluid movement that requires ongoing communication, and the ability to pivot and let go when necessary.
Despite the losses, the failures, and the sacrifices, every challenge I’ve faced has proven to myself how driven and resilient I really am. Staying committed to our vision, and showing up every day—even when things feel overwhelming—continues to help me grow both personally and professionally.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Over the past ten years, I’ve learned countless lessons, but if I had to choose one, it would be the power of trusting my gut and speaking up. Honoring my intuition and acting on it has become one of my greatest strengths.
Also- as an entrepreneur, it’s easy to fall into the trap of trying to do everything yourself, but true growth comes from learning to prioritize, delegate certain things, and trusting the process. This journey has been a constant evolution for me—teaching me the importance of evolving and transformation.
Sidenote- when you’re deep in the trenches and everything feels impossible, I’ve learned to pause, give myself grace and time to process whatever roadblocks im facing, and then push forward when I feel grounded—because if you refuse to quit, you will make it to the other side. Never underestimate the power of a good sleep, a new day, and a new mindset.
