Life & Work with Margarita Gagyan of Glendale, CA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Margarita Gagyan

Hi Margarita, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Two years ago, my life changed in a way I could never have imagined. I was working as an accountant, living in the predictable rhythm of office life, when suddenly, I received an Instagram message that would completely shift my path. A photographer reached out, asking if I would be interested in a photoshoot for @andazweho. I was in shock. Why me? I didn’t have any professional photos. I had no experience in the fashion world. But somehow, they saw something in me, and that moment sparked something deep within.

Despite being totally outside of my comfort zone, I knew I had to say yes. It felt like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and I couldn’t let it slip away. Little did I know, this decision would mark the beginning of something incredibly exciting.

The moment I stepped in front of the camera, I was hooked. The energy, the creativity, the collaboration—it was electrifying. I had never felt more alive. Every click of the camera seemed to capture a new version of myself that I didn’t even know existed. I felt empowered, confident, and truly seen. The entire photoshoot was pure magic, and I realized then and there that this was more than just a job—it was my calling.

From that moment, I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I wanted to take that energy with me everywhere, to shine in every way possible, to share this newfound confidence and creativity with the world. This experience made me realize that I wanted to be a part of something bigger than myself. I wanted to connect, inspire, and show others what’s possible when you step into the unknown and embrace your own power.

And that’s how my journey as an influencer began. A surprise message, a leap of faith, and the realization that I was ready to shine. It wasn’t just about photos—it was about a transformation. And I was ready to share that transformation with the world.

Fashion and beauty have always been my heart and soul. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been drawn to how clothes and self-care can completely transform a person. I spent countless hours at the gym, working hard to shape my body, and shopping became a form of self-expression—each piece I wore felt like a reflection of who I was and who I wanted to be.

Every time I came home with new clothes, I would try them on and show my fiancé. He’d always offer his advice, but one day, he said something that struck me to my core: “Whatever you wear, you carry with so much elegance. You add to the dress so much more than it is. You should take this to social media and show how a woman should represent herself.”

Those words were a spark—something shifted in me. It was as if the universe was telling me I had a purpose beyond just dressing up. I could be a voice. I could be someone who not only represented fashion but showed others how to wear it with confidence, grace, and authenticity. It was the push I needed to take a leap of faith and share myself with the world.

I started sharing my photos and videos on Instagram, purely as a way to express who I was and connect with others who shared my passions. At first, it was just for me—a creative outlet. But then, something incredible started to happen. People started noticing. They were drawn to my energy, my authenticity, and the way I carried myself in the clothes I wore. What began as a small community of like-minded individuals exploded into something much bigger. I realized that I wasn’t just sharing outfits—I was inspiring others, and I had the power to make a real impact.

The true turning point came when I received a collaboration offer from a major clothing company. That offer felt like a sign that I was on the right path. It was the validation I needed to push harder, to dream bigger. I knew then that I wasn’t just playing around—I was building something real. But the journey was far from easy. There were moments of doubt, obstacles, and a lot of learning along the way. But each challenge only fueled my fire to grow and get better.
With relentless dedication, unwavering consistency, and a deep belief in myself, I connected with more brands, more influencers, and more people who shared my vision. The relationships I built were everything—authentic connections that go far beyond numbers and collaborations.

Every day, I worked to elevate my content, inspire my followers, and stay true to my passion for empowering others.

When I look back now, I’m overwhelmed with gratitude for how my career as an influencer evolved—organically, authentically, and with purpose. It was never just about gaining followers or working with brands; it was about showing women how to embrace their true selves, to wear confidence like a second skin, and to shine in a world that sometimes tries to dim your light.
And that’s what drives me every day. I’m here to create a space where women can feel powerful, beautiful, and proud of who they are, no matter where they come from or where they’re headed.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Being an influencer while holding down a full-time job has been one of the most challenging—and rewarding—experiences of my life. For a long time, I tried to manage both on my own, but the truth is, it was exhausting. Between the long hours spent at my desk, deadlines to meet, and maintaining a professional image in the office, I often found myself stretched thin, barely keeping up with the demands of being an influencer.

The hardest part was simply finding the time. Creating content requires more than just posting pictures—there’s brainstorming ideas, shooting, editing, engaging with followers, and maintaining relationships with brands. All of this had to happen outside my 9-to-5. There were days when I barely had time to breathe, let alone plan new content, and I’d find myself up late at night trying to get everything done, often running on very little sleep.
Beyond the time constraints, there was a mental load that came with it. Being an influencer means constantly having to think ahead—what will I post next? How do I keep my audience engaged? How do I maintain my authenticity while working with brands? While my full-time job demanded focus and energy, my influencer work required a level of creativity and emotional investment that was draining at times. The pressure of balancing both roles made me question whether I was doing enough in either one and, at times, I doubted if I could keep going at that pace.

But the turning point came when my fiancé, who had always been supportive of my journey, noticed how overwhelmed I was. He could see that I was burning out and offered to help. At first, I hesitated—did I really need help? But as the days passed and I realized just how much I was struggling, I agreed to let him step in.
His support made all the difference. He began helping with the behind-the-scenes tasks that were piling up—whether it was managing my emails, helping with content scheduling, or even setting up photo shoots. He became my creative partner, offering ideas and giving me feedback on my content. Most importantly, he reminded me to take breaks, to rest, and to not lose sight of why I started in the first place.
Having him by my side allowed me to breathe a little easier, knowing that I wasn’t alone in the process. It freed up more mental space for me to focus on the creative side of influencing, while he handled the logistics and helped me stay organized. His support wasn’t just practical; it was emotional, too. He believed in me even when I doubted myself, and that faith gave me the strength to push through.

With his help, I was able to find a better balance between my full-time job and my influencer career. It’s still a challenge at times, but I now know that I don’t have to carry the weight alone. Together, we’ve turned my passion into something I can share with the world, and I’m incredibly grateful for the partnership we’ve built—not just in life, but in this creative journey too.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I hold a Master’s degree in Economics and a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, with over 20 years of experience in the accounting and finance field. My career has been focused on providing financial expertise, and I am currently working as a Senior Accountant for LA County.

My extensive background in accounting has equipped me with a deep understanding of financial systems, analysis, and strategy, which I bring to everything I do. It’s been a rewarding career, and I’m grateful for the opportunities I’ve had to grow professionally and make an impact.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Starting out as an influencer can feel both exciting and overwhelming, especially if you’re balancing it with other commitments like a full-time job. If I could give any advice to those just beginning, it would be this: stay true to yourself and embrace the journey.

When I started, I had no idea what I was doing. I didn’t have a strategy, and I definitely didn’t have all the answers. What I wish I knew then was that it’s okay to start imperfectly. Don’t wait for everything to be perfect before you take action. Just begin. Share what excites you, what inspires you, and let your authenticity shine through. Your true followers will connect with you for who you are, not just what you post.

Another thing I wish I knew when I started was how important consistency is. It’s not about posting every day, but rather showing up consistently—whether that’s once a week or a few times a month. It’s the steady effort over time that builds trust and creates genuine connections with your audience. Don’t expect instant results. Building a community takes time, and you have to be patient and persistent.

One piece of advice I can’t stress enough is don’t compare yourself to others. It’s so easy to look at successful influencers and feel like you’re not where you “should” be. But everyone’s journey is different, and your uniqueness is your power. Focus on your own growth and don’t let the success of others make you feel less than.

Lastly, engage with your audience. It’s not just about posting content and walking away; take the time to interact with those who support you. Answer their messages, acknowledge their comments, and make them feel seen. This creates a strong community and will help you grow in ways that algorithms and brand deals never will.

Remember, there will be challenges and moments of doubt, but the key is to keep moving forward. Stay passionate, stay authentic, and always believe in your potential. The process might be long, but it’s incredibly rewarding, and trust me, it’s all worth it in the end.
