Hi Jada, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My name is Jada Smith, and I’m a hairstylist and makeup artist from Atlanta, GA, currently based in Los Angeles. With over 12 years of experience in the beauty industry, I have dedicated my career to helping clients look and feel their best.
Growing up in a hair salon with my mother, I developed a passion for hair care, styling, and transformation from an early age. Now, I specialize in wig making, extensions, cutting, and styling, working with all hair textures to create customized, flawless looks.
For me, healthy hair always comes first. I take pride in not only creating beautiful styles but also educating my clients on proper hair care so they can maintain their hair’s health long after they leave my chair. Whether I’m crafting custom wigs, blending seamless extensions, or perfecting a precision cut, I focus on every detail to achieve the best results.
My passion for beauty and wellness fuels everything I do, and I’m always looking for new ways to grow, refine my craft, and inspire confidence in those I work with.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Once COVID hit, it became difficult for hairstylists to continue servicing clients in person. This pushed me to get creative, leading me to focus on making wigs and offering extensions!
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Sylk Extensions?
I’ve been doing hair for 12 years and have always sourced extensions from other companies. That changed in 2020 when I founded Sylk Extensions, allowing me to provide high-quality extensions directly to my clients. I specialize in various extension applications, including wig making, sew-ins, tape-ins, and I-tips.
One of my proudest achievements is having my work featured in Times Square. I also want readers to know that the Sylk Extensions website will officially launch in 2025. Until then, orders can be placed directly through Instagram messages.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success by being to able to make a living off of what your passionate about.
