Today we’d like to introduce you to Samantha Nguyen
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I immigrated to the United States in 2015 from Vietnam and became a US citizen in 2020.
I received my Manicurist license in 2018 and my esthetician license in 2021.
I worked at a couple of nail salons in Los Angeles, The Woodlands, TX and most recently Beverly Hills.
While working at these salons, I gained valuable experience on what to do but more importantly what not to do.
In 2024, with the support of my husband, we decided to open my own salon in Beverly Hills.
We chose Beverly Hills because I love the energy and atmosphere in this city and how it makes me feel every day as I walk through its streets to get to my salon.
We wanted to create a calm and peaceful environment where our clients could relax and unwind while getting their eyelashes or nails done. Our salon is designed to be a place where our clients could come and forget about their daily responsibilities and pressures and just relax. We feel we’ve achieved this by the favorable feedback and compliments from our customers. It is also validated by the number of clients that are found asleep in our comfortable recliner chairs while their services are being performed. They leave our salon feeling more relaxed and refreshed.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
When I first immigrated to the US, my English was limited so my job opportunities were also limited. I worked very hard on improving my English by attending English classes at Mt San Antonio College. I took a waitress job in a Vietnamese restaurant for 2 years before obtaining my manicurist license. I then worked at a small nail salon in Azusa, CA and Chino Hills, CA. In 2019, I moved to Houston, TX where I worked at a nail salon in The Woodlands, TX. However, COVID hit and the salon was shut down and eventually went out of business. After moving back to California in 2021, I found a job at a nail salon in Beverly Hills, CA and I’ve loved working in this city ever since.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in manicures, pedicures and eyelash extensions. I’m known for my attention to detail and very clean finished lines. I am proud that my clients say I have a very professional work ethic and friendly personality. What sets me apart from my peers is that when I’m not working on a client, I will do whatever needs to be done (washing towels, cleaning and sweeping..) for the sake of the store without being told.
What matters most to you? Why?
Honesty, sincerity and trust matter the most to me. Life is too short to involve yourself with people who aren’t honest, sincere and trustworthy. Working with people like this are a waste of time and energy because you’ll always be second-guessing their actions and motives. This energy can be better used to nurture relationships with people you want to surround yourself with..
