Check Out Sam Dever’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sam Dever

Hi Sam, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I am a podcast host, multimedia producer, actor, artist, and speaker based in Los Angeles, CA. I am the Founder of Sam Dever Productions, which produces the podcast he hosts called “The Sam Dever Podcast”, a long-form conversation talking with people who live and think outside the box.

I’m Originally from a town in the Midwest called Canton, IL and grew up loving and playing the game of basketball.

After playing all through my school years including two years of basketball at Spoon River Community College, I decided to transition his focus to creative projects, the arts and business as they always intrigued me. I then graduated with a degree in Marketing from Western Illinois University in 2009.

Shortly after graduation, I packed up everything I had and moved to Tucson, AZ to begin his journey out West. The West Coast culture and weather had always appealed to me and I was excited to begin a new journey. After one year in Arizona, I then moved to Las Vegas, NV where I lived for almost 8 years. It was here in Las Vegas where I immersed myself in the world of music, media production, interviewing and acting.

With California always being a dream destination for me, I packed it all up again and moved to Los Angeles in February of 2018 and have been in LA ever since. Since moving to LA, I’ve been heavily involved in the acting community and started my podcast The Sam Dever Podcast. I’m is extremely grateful for the creative community he has found in both Los Angeles and Las Vegas and travels between the two frequently working on various projects.

Producing creative content has always been my passion whether it was through making music, creating videos for social media or an acting/film project. Taking creative visions and bringing them forth into reality has given me purpose in life. Not only do I want to bring my visions to life but I also feel inspired to help others to do the same. This has led me to coin the concept “Produce Your Passion” which encourages others to bring their dreams to reality.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I’ve always overcome many obstacles in my creative career but one obstacle in particular changed my life forever. In November 2020, I experienced a severe leg injury while jogging on a hiking trail. I knew the moment the injury happened that my life would never be the same.

Any project I was working on immediately came to a halt and for someone who was used to being extremely active, this wa sa huge challenge.

Through my incredible parents, amazing friends, medical professionals, physical therapists and God, I’ve made it through my recovery and am back thriving. I now has a new life perspective and a deeper gratitude for everything I have and don’t take any moment for granted.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My two main projects right now are “The Sam Dever Podcast” and “Produce Your Passion” which I produce under my company Sam Dever Productions.

The Sam Dever Podcast is a long form conversation featuring guests from a variety of backgrounds who live and think “outside the box.”

I sit down with influential actors, artists, filmmakers, creative pioneers and more, who have overcome obstacles to reach new heights in their respective industries. This podcast’s intention is to help inspire, educate and motivate others on their personal and professional journeys. The Sam Dever Podcast is a resource to help individuals open their minds to innovative concepts and philosophies which may assist them on their life path and give them a better understanding of humanity.

It is available on YouTube, Spotify and Apple Podcasts.

“Produce Your Passion” is my speaking topic and a theme where I help creative people overcome obstacles to produce their passions, bring their visions to reality and to become their most authentic self.

Its purpose is to inspire people to start taking action and to stop waiting for permission to make their dreams happen.

What sets me apart from others is my discipline, persistence and work ethic.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I see the podcasting industry only getting bigger and bigger over the next 5-10 years.

It has become a major media platform for many individuals and brands and is continuously gaining credibility for where people go for their interviews, news and world events.

Podcasts are becoming like another social media platform for many creators, brands and companies and will almost be expected for them to have to be able to communicate with their audiences.

You are going to see more and more independent creators start podcasts as well as larger corporations as it is evolving into a “go to” place for information.
