Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyeasha Harris.
So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
It all started as a thought, then emerged into a passion of mine and me telling myself I can do it. I’m From Conyers, Georgia. A small suburb right outside Atlanta. I grew up with humble begins mostly in a single parent home with my older sister, so often times I would imagine myself in different circumstance. I was bit by the acting bug in the second grade when my family and I were living in Franklin, Louisiana.
My mother had a job working at Blockbuster, so you can imagine how many movies I watched as a kid. I definitely stayed in front of the T.V. When I started my Junior year in high school, I really started taking my acting more seriously I started to get involve with my school plays and musicals. Then the next thing you know it was time to apply for college and I had only one school in mind and that was The American Academy of Dramatic Arts (West Hollywood) campus. That was my only choice and I got accepted. I remember getting anyone I could to read my entry essay. That day is still one of the happiest days of my life because it brought me to Hollywood. It started everything for me. I had never been to California let alone across the country but I didn’t worry about those things. I just knew I had to get out of Conyers. But of course life wouldn’t be life if there wasn’t any bumps in the road and me having to switch Colleges due to finances and that was very devastating to me at the time.
Now I look back and think well everything happens for a reason I’m a strong believer of that. So I kept studying at The Joanne Baron/DW Brown Studio, where I really had some breakthrough performances and I learned a great deal about myself. I took time to myself and trusted the process. Now I have an agent and getting more opportunities to do what I love. You can see me in theaters this August along with other great cast in “South Central Love” . So honestly to get to where I am today was solely faith in God and hard work and dedication.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
A smooth road of course not but for the most part it has been great. One of my major struggles was sacrifice. My family is still in the south so I don’t see them as often as I would like and I feel as if I miss a lot things with them. Another struggle was just finding a tribe out here. A group of friends. Moving anywhere by yourself isn’t easy especially when everything around you is so different.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I am an actress. My Business and My Brand is myself. I specialize in conveying characters to there highest caliber and giving them justice. What sets me apart from others is that I truly believe in my own journey and that everything will happen in the time that it is supposed to for me.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My plan for the future is to be acting full time. I want o be on a hit T.V series. You know one of those shows that you can’t wait to tune into every week and keeps you on edge. That everyone has a discussion about. Movies, I can’t forget about movies, they are the whole reason I fell in love with acting. For someone to have the feeling that I get now every time I go to the movie theaters. That adrenaline rush. That feeling of me saying thats gonna be me one day.
