The Weekly Bite: Fork in the Road in Main Street Santa Monica

Today we’d like to introduce you to Main Street Santa Monica ’s Fork in the Road .

What’s the Fork in the Road story? The who/what/when/where/why?

Fork In the Road was born out of the need to serve simple food using the best ingredients possible in a intimate, casual setting. The food is based around our wood fired pizza oven using techniques based in LA fine dining. We take much insipration from the historic restaurants of LA ( i.e. Michael’s, Campanille, Mozza.)

In speaking with any restaurateurs I’ve come to learn that the restaurant business can be brutal. How has it been for you? What’s been the hardest part?

The pursuit of excellence is never easy, but thoroughly enjoyable. It’s the everyday process that is rewarding, everyday building towards being a better version of our previous selves.

What we love about independent, non-chain restaurants is that the independents bring new ideas forward. What’s interesting or unique about Fork in the Road

What makes our restaurant unique is that we are all about innovation. At any given service a guest will always have a unique experience. We always have at least 3 special dishes to accompany 2 libation specials. As a staff we challenge each other to invent,
Smoke in the Water cocktail is very unique, featuring smoked herbs that fills the glass in which the flavors of the drink soak up the smokiness.
I am also a hug fan of having secret menu items, such as our secret but classic Spaghetti and Meatballs.

Our innovation of the crab cake. Blue crab meat, mascarpone and fontina cheese in a classic risotto, breaded and fried. Served with pickled Fresno chili aioli.

Rustic tomato sauce, imported mozzarella, and fresh basil cooked in our very own wood burning pizza oven

There’s a great private lot directly in back of the restaurant that gives a minimal walk at a very low rate.
