Today we’d like to introduce you to Toni Wiley.
Hi Toni, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I have always loved socializing and being creative.
When I was a teen, I taught myself how to make balloon animals & paint faces for children’s parties.
As a young adult, I started working For The City of Carson as a front desk receptionist, which led to opportunities with various departments. One being a recreation coordinator, another being an Event salesperson booking the event space at the Carson Center. Both of these positions gave me so much pleasure while assisting with events.
I later worked for a large catering company (Jay’s Catering) for 7 years and that is when I realized my passion. We were responsible for full-service events, providing everything from the Venue, the meal, the staff, the rentals and much more. I learned so much from this company.
After working 20 years in the Event Service, 5 Years in restaurant, combined with the many years in Catering & Venue sales, it was time I took a leap. In 2018, my passion led me to start my own business.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Building a business is challenging. The business structure and paperwork, the operations and inventory are jobs in itself. Although it’s tough and a lot of work, it’s the most rewarding job of them all. Learning how to work on the business is as important as working in the business! The biggest lesson I’ve learned is to ask for help. This is something so simple but most times I get in the trenches and work alone. I had to learn that I can and should ask for help.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am an Event planner, a Coordinator and a Decorator with many years of experience.
My company (Specialty Events) offers Rental items like… Hedge wall, Tables, Drapping, Tents & Jumpers. We also offer Table Linens, Balloons and other Decor. We recently added the 360 Photobooth to the list!
We specialize in Full Concept event planning. Which means we are the only call you need to make.
The things that I am most proud of are:
1) Me, for believing in me!
2) My reputation, and the work we produce. I have worked really hard in this industry and I believe those who have worked with me can attest to my commitment, ability and professionalism.
One of the things that sets me apart from others is my experience. I’ve been on the other side of the table as the rental person, the Catering manager or the Venue specialist. This allows me to help my clients avoid costly mistakes and have smooth successful events.
The biggest thing that sets me apart is my integrity and my work ethic!

I love what I do!
