Rising Stars: Meet Sunz Viscarra

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sunz Viscarra.

Hi Sunz, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
From San Pedro, CA. Started my brand after I went to jail for a couple of days. Promised myself I won’t do nothing illegal to make money again because every young kid from any inner city. That is the first thing on their mind, is how can I make money. Most of the time it’s illegal and end up in jail. I seen that growing up since a young kid. I already knew that I had to move different.

Sitting in jail, I had time to think. I definitely don’t want to come back here, I told myself. So I thought, you know what ima try this clothing shit out man. I’ve been wanting to do this since middle school but it just seems so out of reach and so much confusion. Always had it on delay mode. I thought football was going to be my way out.

Before that even happen, I used to be at work with my best friend GB3 for hours deciding what the hell the name is going to be. I’m talking months, consistently every day plotting on the name.

So it began after I got out of jail.

Ima call it Zero Faith.

Zero Faith In The Government.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road at all. That’s how life goes nothing is smooth.

Some struggles were I didn’t know how to shoot photos, create designs, find a manufacture/print shop. There are more elements than just the basics. I started using vinyl off my sister Circuit starting from the bottom. (Thank you sis).

Going to swap meets to get samples done. Then I met my boy Brandon that owns a print shop and boom, I had all access to anything I want. 555 ink.

Always going to be bumps in the road of life. Stand ten toes down and never give up.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I learned to do everything. Still, I am learning every day. Even Denzel Washington still goes to acting school. I do it all because I don’t want to make an excuse why something can’t get done. At the end of the day, it all falls on YOU.

I don’t specialize in 1 thing. I try to be versatile as possible. Always learning. Thank GOD for YouTube. I most proud of staying humble through this whole process because I still have a long way to go.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
First person I got real advice from is my homie Robert Gallardo which I networked on Instagram with. Thank you Rob. I appreciate you dawg. Fr. Worked well for me is the people I surround myself with every day.

I asked advice from my best friends Bray and Matt they been doing it way longer than I have. Thankful for them. Along the way, you’ve run into people who know more than you but you learn from them and create your own sauce. S/0 uknowjohndoe, Eb, and my brother Nunu I just wanted to say that. Ahaha #FREEDOK

Networking on Instagram has worked the best for me. Limitless info and creative people that are so slept on.

S/0 the underground artists. Everybody.
