Rising Stars: Meet Residue

Today we’d like to introduce you to Residue.

Hi Residue, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Started off doing poetry, you know spoken word, etc. That eventually grew into me ghostwriting for a few artists until I finally found my voice and after that, the passion for music continued to grow. I knew at a younger age that this was something I wanted to do for the rest of my life, just never knew where to start. Moving to LA has definitely advanced a lot of my growth within life and music. Learning the in’s and out’s on how this music game work.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
You know everybody goes through difficult shit in their lives, my road has definitely been rough but I’m not one to complain because I know there’s a lot of people going through worst shit than me so I’m just blessed to be in the position I’m in. Blessed to be healthy and humble, mentally and physically.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m an artist…I engineer, produce, song write, among other things but overall I’m an artist. I love being the voice of a track, love being the one to make people feel something, help people tap into their emotions whether it’s being sad or being hype. I just want to be the one that they hear talking to them. Honestly, I think it’s my mindset that sets me apart from others, the way I approach the music.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I don’t think luck has played much of a role in my business, I think hard work, ambition and blessings have been the key factor within my business. There’s been unfortunately times but thats a part of life.
