Rising Stars: Meet Querriel Madarang

Today we’d like to introduce you to Querriel Madarang.

Hi Querriel, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I grew up an artist and dedicated almost my life studying art and the works of the masters like Rembrandt and Caravaggio. I am creative and had an ardent desire to follow my dreams. Knowing this, I tailored my education around what I wanted to become. I started my professional career in the creative industry as a concept artist while I’m still in college. After obtaining my Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, I worked in the advertising industry for a few years as a graphics and motion design artist until I migrated in the US with my family.

This life-changing event made me pursue what I really wanted, to become a Portrait Photographer. I decided to start a photography business with my wife in San Diego in 2019, and I can say that it’s not that easy. As an Immigrant who is in a very diverse country, I was exposed to different cultures, personalities, customs and traditions that I am not very familiar with. And that is one of my biggest challenges in my business. But that didn’t stop me to keep pushing, trying and going for what I know is best for me, my family and the business. Clients were picking up when COVID hits the country. The Pandemic hit us hard and we had to step back and evaluate what we can do so that our business will survive.

My wife and I decided to move to Los Angeles to start over, and here we are! We are back to square one, but we are excited and thrilled to start in one of best cities in the United States. We are elated that we did the big move, here, we have better opportunities to grow as an individual and as an entrepreneur.

There is so much more than just taking photographs. It’s the technique and experience to consistently capture the highest quality images and still make you look your best regardless of the situation. My artistry will bring my client’s vision for their photographs into reality by capturing the best version of themselves that they have never seen before.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
As I’ve said, It’s very challenging. Specially being an immigrant living in a country that is so diverse in culture and customs, plus the situation we are in today because of the pandemic, it is hard. But I take it as a challenge, everything is possible! With the right mindset and hard work, you will achieve whatever goals you have in life. Just keep your feet on the ground and your dreams high, you’ll be on the right track! Keep your eyes on that dream and never lose sight, for that will be your guide to move forward and succeed.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m an artist and a photographer. I am a visual storyteller that loves to document little moments of history of people that I came across with. I like to photograph their special moments with families, friends, loved ones, candid and timeless portraits that will be long cherished and be remembered,

I specialize in capturing beautiful portraits that my clients never seen before of themselves. I create museum grade heirloom products that will test against time, photographs that can be handed over through generations.

Creating such masterpiece that your clients love and value the most is the one worth being proud of.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Life! Living life with your family and loved ones is enough for me to be happy. Just simple as that.
