Today we’d like to introduce you to Pamela Mora and Abby Guerra.
Hi Pamela and Abby, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
A year ago at this time, we pitched a comedy variety show to the Fountain Theater with nothing but a goat puppet and a dream! Our first show had a number from Ratatouille the Musical performed by Abby, our second show featured a human centipede fearlessly lead by Pamela, at the December show our Goat AP Gillian Smith AKA Santa came down the chimney and out of the closet, and our VDay show was completed with a live goat. At our April show, we performed six movies in one hour and now we’re seven shows in and not slowing down any time soon! We just raised $250 for charity at our most recent show, Goat Show For the American Way in July and we’re gearing up for our year anniversary show: Goat Show’s 1st Birthday, coming soon. Follow our Instagram @goatshowla or go to goatshowla.com for details!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
We’ve definitely had our share of goat troubles and had to quickly pivot in a variety of situations. We have learned to roll with the punches since the show is run entirely by us and volunteer crew. We both produce, Pamela writes and Abby directs and for the rest we rely on our trust Goat Pages.Things work out better than you’d expect. Sometimes it’s funnier when you have to force Pamela’s boyfriend into a bear suit. The show must go on.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Goat Show LA’s number one priority is nurturing performers of all experience levels and creating space for marginalized voices. We provide a wacky workshop space for fresh takes in comedy and with us, the weirder the better. At the Goat Show, you can expect the best of LA’s underground comedy scene and a great time with your best friends.
Our upcoming show is a celebration of one year of Goat Shows!! Goat Show’s 1st Birthday will feature everyone’s favorites from our past 6 shows. Look forward to some great stand up, live music and a few surprises.
- Tickets are $10.
