Rising Stars: Meet Nakendra Harris-Mason

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nakendra Harris-Mason.

Nakendra, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’m from Los Angeles, CA. I reside in Victorville, CA. I’m a 3x Author and an executive producer of my very first TV reality show called “Marriage Made”. I’m a CEO of an LLC 501c3, called You’re Created To Inspire Ministries, which is an outreach ministry that has self-development programs for our youth and being a resource for our community. I’m a wife and a mother of four biological sons and two bonus sons. My writing career began back in 2001-2002. It started off as a hobby first. I started with writing poems and music, then I decided to go more deeper into pursuing what I loved doing which was writing and being creative. I started in my late twenties and early thirties. I didn’t grow up with having this very big support system such as someone sitting me down and talk with me about my dreams and goals. I didn’t have anyone to invest in my dreams so I started from the bottom.

Everyone in my family was kind of doing their own thing. I never really felt the need to put what I was talented with on to the next person, most of my family watched my growth from afar. I just always believed in myself and kept the faith and I knew that one day God was going to make my dreams become A reality. In 2010 when my husband and I got married, I was more into putting my all into my husband and my kids and I loved creating memories with them, but that didn’t pull me away from my writing, it actually brought me even close because I had time to sit down and focus more on myself as well. I decided to write my first book in 2016 called “Who Am I”. Followed right behind that one, a year later was my second book called “Marriage Made & What Comes Within and now 2021, my newest release is called “I Found Me”. My books are more of self-help books. In my books, I speak more from experience and I balance it out with my everyday life. I write about things that people can relate to. Being that I am a wife and mother, I’ve learned how to handle the two, my career and my family. I get asked all the time how do I do it. I’ve learned how to balance out my life on a daily basis and involve my family in what it is that I do. I’m more of a structured woman and I always pray and keep God first, I’ve learned by my prayer life and believing in what I pray for that anything is possible or whatever I put my mind too it can be done.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
For me, I’ve had some challenges but within those challenges I’ve found my strength and it gives me the courage to keep ongoing. I didn’t let any obstacles get in my way, which those difficulties made me much stronger than I’ve ever been before.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m known for being an author. People love to support my books. I’m not one of those authors that’s full of fairytales. I’m a real, raw and uncut writer. Sometimes I write how I talk, same as me holding a conversation with someone. I’m proud that I can encourage the next person to follow after their dreams and complete their goals.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
When I first started my production project. It started by me bringing my Marriage Made & What Comes Within book to life. I wanted my TV reality show to shine light on marriage. I was able to do that with casting some amazing families to be on my reality Tv show, who was willing to share their love life with the world.
