Rising Stars: Meet Miki Kaneko

Today we’d like to introduce you to Miki Kaneko.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’m was born and raised in Japan. I became into acting at 20 years old. I did theater, short films and print models. And I always wanted to study abroad, but I didn’t want to give up my dream that wanted to become an actor. One day, one of my close friends told me, “Why don’t you go to the US and pursue your dream?” I didn’t have no idea because I didn’t speak English. But I moved to Los Angeles to become an actor in 2019. I learned the Meisner technique, the Lee Strasberg technique, the Chekhov technique and more at Los Angeles Performing Arts Conservatory. Now, I audition a lot to become an actor.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Language barrier. I can communicate with people somehow. But as an actor, I need to have great English skills to get roles. So I work on it every single day.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I usually watch movies and TV shows, read books to level up my acting skills and take my self-tape for auditions.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I like people and weather and dislike that it’s so inconvenient if you don’t have a car.
