Rising Stars: Meet Marissa Tuer

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I grew up a social butterfly and wanting to be best friends with everyone. I remember my Dad asking me one day in elementary school, “Marissa, how many friends do you have?” and I quickly answered as a matter of fact in my little girl’s voice, “Fifty”. To this day, my Dad still gets a chuckle out of it, as I jokingly remind him that now I have thousands of “friends” thru the power of social media. As I’ve grown up, I’ve had different groups of friends from all of the areas of my life… from school, all of the random jobs I’ve had, bible study, the gym, you name it. But I realized something was missing, and I wanted to create a space to blend all of the circles, bring everyone together and have a good time. As adults, it can often be difficult to meet new people and make friends. I decided to change that by creating an inclusive place for all of the women in my life (and the ones I would soon meet) to come together to meet, connect, uplift and inspire one another. A safe space they can be themselves, without judgment or cattiness and be REAL with one another, making genuine connections. I know firsthand how having a cheerleader in your corner or a strong support system can change the complete trajectory of your life.

Welcome in, it’s peachy. A positive place to do life TOGETHER. Whether you’re living your best single life or happily married, this is a place for you. Whether you’re a SAHM or woman in the workforce, this is a place for you. Whether you are killing it with your health game or don’t even know where to start, this is the place for you. Whether you’re an introvert or extrovert, this is a place for you.

I host virtual and physical events centered around wellness – physical, social, emotional, spiritual, and mental. Everything from bible studies, spin classes + booty camps, paint classes, wine pairings, to fundraisers – all while highlighting small, local businesses. I am a strong believer that there is enough room at the top for everyone, so my goal is to see everyone I know succeed, and that happens with a strong group of women cheering you on along the way.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as relatively smooth road?
The concept of “it’s peachy” has evolved over the years in my head. It’s changed forms and shapes along the way… until it finally clicked. Earlier in the year, I realized it was my “now or never” moment. Was I finally going to GO for it and launch this dream? Or was I going to hold back and always regret not knowing what “could have happened”? I decided that the little voice of doubt in my head wasn’t going to win and “someday” was TODAY… I quickly reached out to a designer to work on my brand identity and was about to launch my website when COVID shutdowns hit. Hmmm, what to do? My initial thought was that it would be a horrible time to launch a business, especially one that revolved around community. But! Second thought, maybe this was the IDEAL time to launch when so many people needed an outlet, needed a community, needed connection, needed positivity. And thank goodness I did. What first looked like an obstacle proved to be an opportunity. It’s peachy launched in April 2020 and has grown tremendously in such a short amount of time.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am SO proud of the women in this community I created. These women are badass, inspiring, funny, motivating, intelligent, and fun! Every single woman in this community has her own unique story and background. it’s peachy is a place you can come to feel empowered, encouraged, and uplifted.

When you can’t find what you’re looking for or stumble across a problem, you solve it. There were no other positive, happy, social communities (that I’m aware of) so I felt the need to create it myself. I am the most proud of our recent fundraising event for Domestic Violence Awareness Ride benefitting SAFE Family Justice Center. We hosted a workout class (featuring two boutique gyms) at a local winery to raise awareness and funds for domestic violence victims and survivors. Guests could come workout, shop pop up boutiques, enjoy wine + charcuterie all while benefiting a good cause. We had three domestic violence survivors come to share their personal stories as “Surthrivors”. WOW, is all I can say. We all left so humbled, inspired, motivated, and fulfilled. To hear what these incredible ladies have been through and to STILL have a smile on their face and joy in their soul… absolutely remarkable. Plus, we were able to raise $3,000 for SAFE Family Justice Center and our community.

A big part of “it’s peachy” and the financial aspect that helps fund all of these amazing events is the merchandise. I have t-shirts, sweatshirts, tumblers, mugs, etc. that are so fun and playful. It’s one of the most fulfilling moments when I’m out and about and to see another woman in one of my shirts… I know I can easily go and strike up a conversation with her and have something in common. It’s just another way we can all connect and come together as women instead of pulling each other down. I guess it all comes back to me just wanting to be besties with everyone! The best way to tap into the “it’s peachy” community is by simply getting plugged in through our website, newsletter, Instagram and Facebook group. From there, you can stay on the pulse for upcoming merch launches, events and get a daily dose of positivity.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
I am beyond grateful to have grown up in a loving, happy home. My parents are still married to this day and are two of my biggest supporters. Being a business owner himself, my Dad instilled in me “the sky’s the limit” mentality from a young age. Together, they created the confidence and motivation in me to chase my dreams, work hard, and go after what I want.
