Rising Stars: Meet Maddie Wine

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maddie Wine.

Hi Maddie, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey in the beauty industry started in October 2020. At the time, I was balancing working a night shift and taking care of my two kids during the day as a single mom. I knew that this wasn’t the lifestyle I wanted for myself and my boys long term – always tired, a chaotic schedule, and poor mental health. My boyfriend and closest friends encouraged me to start MGB, even though I really wasn’t sure how far it would go. I started working from home with a small space in the living room dedicated to my work. Honestly, before starting I thought that I would consider myself successful if I was able to create a little side hustle. But two months later, I had taken on so many clients that I quit my night shift and dedicated myself full time to my new career.

Since then, I’ve focused on developing my skill set, identifying a niche for myself, and creating the best experience possible for my clients. I love being able to meet so many amazing people and feel honored that they trust me to help them feel better in their own skin. It’s such a personal decision and I take their trust in me seriously. I recently relocated MGB to Rancho Cucamonga and have started building a team. I want to be able to provide jobs for people and create an atmosphere that they love working in. My motivation and mission have stayed the same, but now it’s on a much bigger scale than back in 2020.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I think that with any business, there is a learning curve for the “business” side of things, like growing clientele, skill set and social media. But no one talks about the personal development that happens behind the scenes. I can honestly say that MGB has challenged and changed me as a person for the better. I’ve had to learn where my weakness are that hold me back from growth. I’ve even met with therapists and coaches specifically to learn how to develop a better work/ life balance! I really believe that clients choose their beauty service providers for a reason and if I am becoming the happiest and healthiest version of myself, it will reflect in my business.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in Body Sculpting and Spray Tanning. I also teach Spray Tanning Certification courses and provide mentoring for new Spray Tan Technicians. Body Sculpting is made up of non-invasive treatments that target stubborn fat, cellulite, and skin tightening. All of the treatments are non-invasive and pain-free. It’s the perfect way to help accelerate your health and aesthetic goals.

I think one of the things that makes me different from others is my emphasis on body positivity and mental health. A lot of my clients use their sessions as their self-care time, which I believe is a huge component of our mental well-being. The goal is always for my clients to grow in confidence and self-love, leading to a healthier and happier life outside of their sessions. I really believe that when we feel our best physically, we are able to show up as the best version of ourselves in other areas of our lives. I want every client to feel that they have a safe space to start this journey of self-love.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
If you ask the people closest to me, they would definitely say I’m a risk taker. Probably a big risk taker. I don’t necessarily see myself like that, but I make a lot of choices based on my intuition and know that even if it doesn’t go as planned, I’ll figure it out. I always have and that won’t change because it’s who I am as a person.

From my perspective, if I don’t take the risk, I’ll never know if the outcome would have been positive or negative. I rather make a bad decision and know for sure than be wondering. That same decision could have a positive outcome and change my life.

Making my side hustle my full-time job after two months is the biggest risk I’ve taken so far. From the outside, I know it looked crazy. But I think that putting myself in positions like this makes me rise to the challenge and figure out a way to grow. Maybe it’s not the most orthodox approach, but it fits well with my personality and has helped me become who I am today. I encourage people to trust their gut and to make sure that they’re staying true to themselves when choosing to take a risk or play it safe.
