Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Peronne.
Hi Lisa, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Like so many others, I lost my job in March of 2020 amid the crisis of shuttering businesses and lockdowns. I had been running a wildlife teaching hospital and my entire life was dedicated to my job, I knew very little else. I was single, lived alone and I was working all week and on call evenings and weekends, I never really had time off from my work. I had to leave the country twice in 2019 just to be away from it. It was grueling at times, but I loved what I was doing and what I stood for in my work. So I made the sacrifice.
Since everything was shut down for most of 2020, it forced me to take the time out needed to re-evaluate my life. I was given the opportunity to have a clean slate. Who did I want to be? What was a passion that I could believe in again? I had been increasingly getting more spiritual in my life since 2014, finding peace in meditation and prayer, healing past wounds and traumas, learning breathwork and sound therapy, becoming a yoga instructor and teaching as a side gig. It was at this point, stuck at home with nothing more to do besides the occasional drive up and down the coast, that I fell headlong into a deep spiritual journey and took my first Reiki training in August of 2020. By the end of the year, I had completed four certifications in two lineages of both human and animal Reiki.
When 2021 rolled around, I was deep in Reiki treatments and sound healing for both people and animals. With my background of veterinary medicine and biology, the Reiki treatments for the animals felt natural, like an extension of my own being. Mostly moving away from human Reiki and focusing on animals, I felt like I was beginning to find my calling, my soul mission. But something was still not complete, and it was around this time I realized what part of my passion was missing… teaching. One of my favorite components of my job was teaching the interns at the hospital, the excitement I would feel from students and the passion of sharing my knowledge with others. So teaching animal Reiki to others began to form in my mind.
At this same time, I was forming a non-profit in the wildlife industry and knew I wanted to somehow incorporate Reiki healing to wildlife. So now needing to find a lineage that would resonate with wildlife was when I discovered Kathleen Prasad and her Let Animals Lead ™ method of animal Reiki. This method focuses on “being” Reiki “with” animals instead of “doing” Reiki “to” animals. With wildlife not having a natural bond to humans, this method was ideal for that industry. But because the method was so different from so many other lineages, I had to start from the ground and work my way back up by obtaining three more certifications from Kathleen.
So instead of Animal Alchemy Healing being a business, I started as a practitioner, it has now become a teaching portal for students who want to study this particular modality. I offer Level One and Level Two classes once a month in Orange county and partner up with rescue horse sanctuaries, where students get to apply their learnings hands on with the horses. 50% of the profits from the students tuitions are donated to the rescue horses we learn with, giving myself and my students the opportunity to contribute financially to these beautiful and endearing equines.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I had to reinvent myself. It was scary and disturbing to release an old identity that I had held onto for most of my life. In order to do what I needed to do, I had to leave the security of a medical and biological field that was tangible and step into something esoteric. I had to have faith, against the odds, that I could do this full time and support myself financially in a world where this is only beginning to become common.
The biggest struggle was within my own mind, but if I was to become successful, I had to believe in myself and what I was doing. I needed to accept this deep-seated soul calling as my mission at this time. And I had to see that the world is changing drastically at this time, and I needed to also change drastically, as well in order to be in alignment with the current trajectory,
People’s priorities are quickly changing and I saw that not only did I need to be a part of that, but I needed to change my own priorities as well. I needed a better work-life balance and not be the workaholic I had so easily been before, thinking that’s how I proved my worthiness. I needed a daily spiritual practice to build and hold my faith when the struggle can be real. And I needed to contribute somehow by helping and teaching others the importance of animals in our lives.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I teach a specific lineage of Reiki that specializes in animals and their needs. The Let Animals Lead™ method is designed for all animals, whether domestic or wild.
The classes cover self-healing Reiki methods, meditations to assist with being in a Reiki space, sound bath healing to awaken dormant energy within the body, and attunement reijus to bring the Universal source energy alive within each person.
I assist people in their spiritual journey and self-actualized healing by bringing them closer (energetically, emotionally and physically) to nature and the animal kingdom. I also help empower them by uncovering spirit animals, power animals and totem animals that are available to all, allowing them to learn important messages from source.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
When I was in 2nd grade, I would walk back and forth to school from my grandmother’s house. During this walk, tons of animals would appear and walk with me. It always felt like they were protecting me while I was away from home. There were horses, dogs, cats, birds, mountain lions, wolves, bears, deer, etc., so many different kinds of animals.
They would come into the classroom with me. Of course, no one else could see them, but I was always so upset how much they would need to crowd around in order to fit under and around my desk. I would get in trouble with the teacher for telling them to settle down and to stop fidgeting.
After multiple times of my teacher telling me to stop talking during class, she moved me to the corner of the classroom away from the others, assuming I was talking to the other students around me. My animals loved this new space because they were able to spread out and not be crowded. When my teacher told me I was allowed to move back to the desk next to the others students, I told her I would rather stay where I was at so my animals had more room. She never did understand what I meant. And I was always so surprised when other people couldn’t see them since they were so real and vivid to me.
