Rising Stars: Meet Laura Franchini

Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Franchini.

Hi Laura, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
In 2008 I bought my first camera and would just take photos for fun but I realized I actually loved capturing special moments like maternity or child birthdays. Over 13 years I’ve met so many people and captured so many memories. It has always been my dream to have my own studio and the stars finally aligned and the opportunity to have my own space was finally coming true. Not only is my studio for me but I always want to open it for other photographers who were like me just starting out and needed a location to master their craft. I’m a big believer in patience and community over competition.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Honestly, it hasn’t been a smooth road but it hasn’t been a rough one either but I think that’s why I have a very high patience level. I didn’t have many struggles but the little things that would sometimes affect my sessions would be things that I couldn’t control like the weather or if a child got sick.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I started taking photos in my living room. I would set up for a maternity, newborn, or child session. Those are my top favorite type of photos to take. Capturing kids is so much fun. I love to let them be free and do whatever they want because that’s why I can capture their true personality and real smiles/ facial expressions. I try to make every session different for each other, I don’t mind catering to my clients because I want to capture their memories that they will cherish for a lifetime.

How do you define success?
Success is knowing that there’s always room to learn more and grow. It’s ok to help others because at the end of the day we all have different goals and different views of how to create art.
