Rising Stars: Meet Katharina Boger

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katharina Boger.

Hi Katharina, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born in Ksyl-Orda, Kazakhstan, and moved to Germany together with my family at the age of 4.

So I grew up bilingual (Russian/German). After graduating from university, I attended Johann Sebastian Bach School of Music where I learned to play the piano and started writing my first songs. After several demo tape recordings, I went to London to produce some of my songs professionally.

In 2017, I released my first EP “Bad Girl” and decided to relocate to Los Angeles, CA, where I started working with Producer and Singer/Songwriter Nicholas J. Turpin (known for his work with e.g. Justin Bieber, David Guetta).

In 2019, I released my latest EP “Angels & Devils” followed by my single releases “Have It” (October 2019), “Want Me Back” (February 2020), and “Breaking Rules” (March 2022).

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I think good things never really go smooth, cause you need to leave your comfort zone and got to learn.

In most cases, you fail first and learn from there. So you can get better and better. There were many struggles I had to deal with. Had to learn the business side of music, learn how to live alone, have nobody in a city like L.A., and start from zero.

But I’ve learned to never give up because after rainy days there will always be sunshine.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As a singer and songwriter, I’m involved in most processes of song production. It’s very important to me that I can realize my visions as well as possible together with my producer.

It’s always very exciting to start with an idea and to develop it together with other creative people. Sometimes it’s just a line or a beat that comes into my mind and then we go from there and create a new “DAngel” song that represents my thoughts, feelings, or experiences I made in the past.

I’m super proud to be able to do the job that I´ve always loved and to see how more and more people participate in my journey. To find out what sets me apart from others you just need to come to my show and I promise you will find out.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
After the pandemic shows will play a major role over the next years for sure. Cause we all were missing the live acts. Social media will grow even faster too.

Good independent artists will get even more possibilities to gain recognition. If you work hard and be smart there will be a lot of ways to reach millions of listeners by placing your music by yourself without having any major label deal. In addition, my “DAngel” gang and I will characterize the music industry in the future too.

Lots of good ideas gonna be brought into action. But all in all, I guess the music industry works always hard to entertain people in the best possible way. And it would mean the world to me to see you on my shows.
