Today we’d like to introduce you to John Tucker.
Hi John, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I am an inspiring photographer based in Los Angeles and Houston Texas. So basically how I first started doing photography was me taking a class in Highschool which I really didn’t care about because it’s was just an extra credit class also actually failed that class because I was never paying attention, but somehow after high school, I just didn’t know what to do because I wasn’t book smart so I didn’t want to go to college. One Christmas my sister gave me $100 cash for Christmas and something just told me to go to eBay and buy a camera so I bought this used Nikon d3000 which wasn’t the best camera at all to use but I started just practicing with it and looking at YouTube videos just trying to learn how to do photography so basically I fell in love with it. So one day my sister asked me what I really wanted to do if I want to go to college or I want to take off with my craft but I would get kicked out if I chose my craft so I chose my craft and decided to go couch hop with all my friends it’s wasn’t easy at the time cuz I was broke and no hope, I chose something I fell in love hoping it would work out for me but I started getting motivated with my photography. I kept doing free photoshoots practicing trying to get my name out there and also I learned a lot about marketing while doing photography but at the end, everything paid off and I turned what I love into a career of course sometimes it’s hard because you never know when your next client is going to come I struggled my way to where I am at right now and it’s all paid off well for me. I just never gave up on my myself.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The struggles I had coming up was me being homeless, facing my anxiety as an artist, also losing friends and trust in people because I got taken advantage of, but I still got blessed along the way.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My name is John Tucker and i am a photographer and with photography I specialize in everything but I am more known from my creatively with models I work with and what I am most proud of is I never gave up on my self even at my lowest point. And what makes me apart from others is I am a rockstar photographer I love to bring the party vibes, my style is different and also I bring my personality into my art.
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
One thing I learned was I had to appreciate everything I had and I should be ready for the unexpected situations.
