Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeron Jackson.
Hi Jeron, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
After hitting a small bump in the road back around 2008, I became incarcerated for a brief period. During that spell, I discovered a hidden talent of mines, Barbering. I first learned how to cut with using only a comb and a broken Gillette razor. I fell in love with the craft immediately. Once I was released, I went to Barber School at Borner’s Barber College to secure my License in the profession. I’ve cut Homeless people to a few B-List Celebrities over my career and I have even returned to my Barber College and became the Current Barber Instructor. I’d say shortcoming blossomed my success through a humbling journey. So every chance I can, I try to give back with my gift.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Barbering had its challenges. Transitioning from comb over razor cuts to using clippers was a little struggle. It’s the same concept however different techniques and learning the different size guards and sets of a fade came with much perseverance and practice. I remember messing up the little kids cut bad in my first days of Barber College and to add insult to injury, it was little man’s birthday too. I vowed to myself that I would never have a client upset like that ever again. I buckled down and watched tutorials and came early to school to get extra practice. I even went as far as moving seat right next to the instructor to get that little extra pointers /help.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Originally I owed a security firm for 15 years prior to my shortcomings. So I had always been orientated in customer service and public relations. I feel that is my number one thing I’m known for “the experience”. Anybody can do an ok haircut, but I feel like what can I offer beyond the barber chair. Not only do I have amenities to compliment the haircut, I over mentoring and advise the kind of like a Preacher/Pastor. All while giving one of my famous 24k gold faicals or black mask /steamer with hot towel faical. I specialize in pampering my clients. And what sets me apart is the relationship that I build with my clients. I’m not just their Barber I’m “Big Brother”, “Best Friend”. I love what I do, I feel that is key to success and key to Life and it reflects in my haircuts and as well as my service.
What are your plans for the future?
My plans for the future are to one day own and full Barbershop with an outreach mentorship program associated. I want to over intercity youth a place to come get fresh and get away from the pressures of their neighbors.
