Today we’d like to introduce you to Dianna Healy.
Hi Dianna, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’m an aesthetician, massage therapist, holistic Nutritionist, Reiki master, survivor of Crohn’s disease, anorexia and recovering meth addict! Anything else hmmm….? For most of my life, I struggled with a really disturbing view of food. I starved and gained weight lost and gained hundreds of pounds even using illegal drugs to try to control my weight. I really got into holistic nutrition, massage and aesthetics in my early 20’s, but it wasn’t until I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease in 2010 where everything shifted. I lost everything my home, my car, my life. I had a dig deep within myself and find a holistic route of healing myself because drugs and medication weren’t working. It wasn’t until I started my anti-inflammatory diet and received a small bowel resection where everything started to level out. I strive now to help women and men with their body image and their nutritional needs. My love for aesthetics and bodywork has been a passion of mine for almost 20 years now and I continue to strive to heal and help people with their skin and muscles- I’m currently working towards a degree in medical massage.- and just finished a diploma as a diet and nutritional advisor.
My whole life of hating myself and abusing my body has taught me to be empathic and loving towards not only myself but to others too.
My goal is to teach people not only to care for their outer body – skin and muscles- but their inner body with their feeding themselves and telling themselves on a daily basis!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely has been far from a smooth road! Along my path there’s definitely been a lot of twists and turns, bumps and seemingly “Road blocks” – but truthfully everything came in divine order. My Crohn’s disease diagnosis was probably the biggest blessing. It made me look at my life when I was feeding my body and what I was telling myself on a daily basis. Our mindset has so much to do with our happiness and we give our power away every day to negative hateful thoughts towards our bodies and minds. We take our power back when we think empowering loving thoughts towards ourselves and also feed ourselves nurturing whole foods. Before I was diagnosed, I was in a purgatory state for about a year being passed back-and-forth between doctors; they unknowingly diagnosed me with IBS tuberculosis of the G.I. and depression. I was hooked up to a pick line –
Being fed intravenously for almost a year. It was at the point where I was basically given eight months to live that I decided to change doctors and change my diet! I relocated out to orange county found an amazing doctor, I had a small bowel resection which inevitably saves my life – but I also needed to change my diet. Anti-inflammatory, gluten-free and dairy-free. After my insides begin to heal, I was able to start working again and that’s when I became interested in a holistic health practitioner’s degree and took my massage and aesthetics to another level.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a certified massage therapist, certified aesthetician, holistic nutritionist and diet and nutritional advisor, acupressurist, Reiki master /energy healer, Makeup artist and personal trainer. Basically, anything that has to do with Kinesiology, energy, and helping people! I would say the thing that I I am most proud of is my degree in holistic nutrition- it really help me to heal my own body and understand the workings of inflammation. I absolutely love being a bodyworker too – and skincare is truly a passion also (I struggled with cystic acne for many years so I got certified in acne facials and make up artistry to help women cover up imperfections and enhance their inner beauty and regain their confidence!)
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
The one thing I would definitely tell someone starting off is figure out what you were passionate about that GIVES back to humanity- something that when you are immersed in – time Completely is an irrelevant and it totally disappears. When you find a passion like this, it is your true calling. Combine that with the fact that you’ll be helping people and it’s a total win!
