Rising Stars: Meet Delaney Bishop

Today we’d like to introduce you to Delaney Bishop.

Hi Delaney, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I born VERY CLOSE to were Prince, Madonna, and Michael Jackson were all born within a month of each other (in the Great Lakes Region). Yes, a lot of people were born there (likely millions), but it’s a fun fact. From a very young age, I had an obsession with mirrors. Not the reflections in them: just the mirror part. When I realized there are mirrors inside cameras, I became a film director almost immediately.

Holding up a mirror to someone is not always easy. But when they’re playing a part well, it’s awesome.

Terror Eyes is the last film I made; came out this summer. Check it out!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Two kinds of challenges – one is a list of things so routine for filmmakers that it would make a very boring list. The other are so traumatic it would be uncomfortable to read and inappropriate to write here. So, instead I ask; does everyone struggle? Probably. But maybe…just maybe there has been someone, somewhere in history, via one long series of unlikely events, that NEVER had to struggle. And not just some rich kid: could have be a seamstress in the 18th century; just happened to avoid all struggle and drama. His or her routine kept their mind and body sharp. I believe if there is no struggle, it’s like no exercise. Yes, things can hurt us, but eventually struggles have their lessons and gifts. Even horrible things, according to author Viktor Frankl. Check out his book Man’s Search for Meaning I think it’s actually free wherever you can find audiobooks and book downloads.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I think of cool stuff. But so does everyone, right? YES, THEY DO. But do they have a systematic discipline to capture those ideas, categorize them, and apply them accordingly? Maybe they do. Hope so, because it feels great. I’ve already mentioned my latest film; TERROR EYES but forgot to mention that it’s available for rental or purchase wherever you rent or purchase streaming films. It’s also coming to DVD if you can believe that. In fact, if anyone reading this sees a TERROR EYES DVD on a shelf, on display case, or especially in the garbage, PLEASE send me a picture. I’d really appreciate, and you’d get a photo credit / shout out if I post, lol.

I’m probably going to read this whole interview and shake my head disapprovingly, questioning myself, but will eventually get over it.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
Regarding credit: whomever sends me a DVD photo hahaha! But yeah, please send pic if you see one. OK, um, well, mom and dad deserve credit. They were insanely cool influences and so close to home!

Shit, so many others. You know who you are if you’re reading this. Just know I love you.! Big thanks and gratitude, y’all. Peace!
